Okay, so for a long time now I've said that I was going to wear my hair half up half down. Everyone knew this.
Now, 2 of my bridesmaids are going to be wearing their hair the same way and my FMIL went for a trial today and she did half up also.
At first I was like 'ok whatever' but now Im starting to think that my hair is going to look like everyone elses. I want a romantic look and i grew my hair long for this purpose. Should I stick with my half up do or should I just wear it all down? I dont want everyones hair to look like mine. I know they wont since I'm the bride.....but i kinda feel like my hair wont be anything special now.
I also dont want to force people to wear their hair differently -- its not fair to them either.
what do you think?

I agree with you. I plan on having my hair half up half down too and if my BP pulled something like that I would be a bit PO...maybe tell them politely that you would appreciate them having a diff. hairstyle??

Re: hair question -- would this bother you?
no one will stand out like you will on that day!!!
i dont think i mind if any of my girls wanna do half up half down personally, tho i will be doing it. i dont think my stylist would do it exactly the same. plus im having long clip ins in which is a more dramatic look.
i did my hair half up for my sisters wedding, and she had same style. she didnt care. i doubt anyone was paying much attention to me anyways.
sorry for your frustration!!

Yea, im not PO'd but I guess I want to stand out a bit. I definately wont tell them not to wear their hair that way because I want them to do it how they are most comfortable. I guess i should stick with the half up since its what i really wanted.

It's your day - if you aren't comfortable with them wearing their hair the same as you tell them - I already told my girls they can do whatever they want as long as it is not like mine. None of thme seemed to have a problem with it - especially since I gave them 6 months notice to find a hair style they liked.

Re: hair question -- would this bother you?
i totally dont care how my bms wear their hair
but i do think its a tad selfish that 2 bms and FMIL are doing the same as you especially since they've known for so long. So i get what you're saying completely
But, o well...You're hair will be beautiful and you'll stand out no matter what especially since half up/down have so many variations

i don't think it makes any difference if they copy your hair style or not, as long as you're the only one wearing that beautiful white gown...all eyes will be on you. Don't sweat this...you have more stuff to worry...but if its really bother you, you may want to tell your BMs and family politely that this is your plan and your appreciate it if your the only one get this kind of hair style.

Re: hair question -- would this bother you?
I don't care how everyone wears their hair. What ever they want, and what ever suits them best... No one is going to look at the coiffs at the altar and compare and contrast. Besides, the exact same hair-do on three different people will look completely different... becuase of the differences in hair color and thickness, and the individual's facial structure...
On the other hand.... My BM is Indian and has perhaps the most beautiful thick wavy super black hair in the universe. Her bed-head is better than my bridal trial...... what's a bride to do? She's doing her own hair, and I know it won't look like my do.. but it likely will look even better! it's all fine. More power to her!

I can see how you would be a little upset, but truthfully-NO MATTER what you do with your hair you are the bride! If you arent comfortable with it then maybe ask them to do something or change yours if you arent ok with asking that. I am letting my girls do whatever they want to their hair...doesnt bother me at all-im wearing the big white dress and no ones hair style will change that!

Re: hair question -- would this bother you?
I understand exactly how you feel. One by one, I found out that all of my bms wanted their hair half-up, half-down. I started worrying that I wouldn't stand out enough. Totally didn't happen! In the end, I think it looked nice, having all the bms with similar styles. It didn't take away from my hairstyle at all - you're the bride - you will look and feel extra special no matter what!

Re: hair question -- would this bother you?
I told my BMs I don't care how they wear there hair, as long as it's not the same as mine (which is TBD).
I think you should have a little talk with them and explain that that's the look you've had your heart set on and you're afraid it will look too similar to yours. I'm sure they'll understand.

Re: hair question -- would this bother you?
I asked my girls if they would mind wearing their hair all up since I am wearing mine half up/half down. They said no problem. I think they would do anything I asked (I am blessed witha very special group of girls) DO NOT change your mind about your hair do, just ask them, maybe they will be willing, if they thinks it makes you happy! And then tellFMIL that you asked the girls to change their hairstyle so they do not mimick you and see if she takes the bait. GL I know even if every girl has their hair exactly like you, you will shine like the beautiful bride I know your going to be!!!

YUP IMHO, I think you should do whatever makes you happy! which means wear it half up and down!!! in all seriousness though no one will really notice the BM's hair, and you'll stand out more anyway because your the bride. HTH
Now I thought I saw someone post about you having a paper to do?? I hope you were able to get it all done!

Re: hair question -- would this bother you?
No one is going to mistake anyone else for you, especially if you're going to be wearing a tiara and veil. Let the bridesmaids wear the hairstyle that makes them happy. Besides, even if they're all wearing half-up half-down they won't necessarily look the same, there's lots of different ways to do it, and everyone has different hair.
I think you're getting down to the last weeks before the wedding and panicking. I totally understand this, date twin! Just relax. You will look beautiful on your day, and no one will compare to you. Well, except me, but we won't be around each other!

Re: hair question -- would this bother you?
You will stand out because no matter what they do, people will be looking at you all night! y'know? I think we (as brides) are super aware of everyhing else, but your guests are not going to even remember how your BP had their hair, but they will remember your hair ,your dress, your veil, your reception place..etc. Don't worry about it. Don't change your hair... you've had your heart set on it!

No matter how you look at it, they'll always be a copy cat somewhere. But no one will shine as much as you on your day!!! NO ONE!!!
