Ok, just need to get this off my chest, and would LOVE advice from you ladies (sorry if it's long).
A while back I had told my every day hair stylist that I would come to his salon the morning of with my bridesmaids to get our hair done. After thinking more about it, I decided it wasn't going to work because we'd have to schlep 8 people from riverhead to sayville and then back and the travel time would be way too much. So, i looked into other options, had a trial and booked someone else.
A few weeks after booking someone else, I tell him and he then offers to come to the hotel with an assistant and do all our hair. Since he's a family friend (but keep in mind he said NO to the wedding, and my dad is P.O'd about it), I felt obligated to say yes, even though he was charging me just about double for the services the other girl was charging, and didn't even give me a break because i'm a family friend (no joke - my dad has known his partner for 25 years and they set up my dad and his gf. My dad and his gf have gone to EVERYTHING of theirs, and he's saying he can't come because he has other plans and can't cancel his clients which to me is BS but whatever)
So, I go for a trial last week and it was TERRIBLE! All i want is my hair down and a little pinned up on the left side (just like KK did during her reception - see pic below) and it was just horrid. He said it was because my hair was too soft so he couldn't do anything with it (first time someone has told me that my hair is TOO nice/soft). I was there from 3:30 - 8 PM in the salon and he couldn't do what I wanted. And it's really not even a complicated style - I could do it, that's how easy it is. And if I could do my own hair for the wedding, I probably would but i really wanted a professional to do it.
So, he didn't charge me for the trial, and I'm going back in there at 7:30 am tomorrow morning (saturday) to see what he can do with it. BUt I dunno ladies... part of me just wants to cancel him all togther and find someone else. I know it's last minute, but there are a few people available and I just feel like maybe I should just have another trial and go with someone else. What do you ladies think? Really need advice here!!!!
Thanks gals!!

If your having any doubts about him, then I'd cancel and find someone else.
You don't want to be looking back at your pictures after the wedding and having any type of regret.
I agree 100% ... you want to feel amazing on your day, if you don't like what he did, do you really want to chance not liking your actual wedding day hair?

Go with your gut. I am having the same issue with my hair guy (have known him for over 20 years but claims he just can't leave his salon early on a Saturday to do my hair in my home that is 5 minutes away because it will take him away from his other clients.) I say go with someone else who feels they can 'manage' to do your hair the way you want it done.

If you don't like it now, you won't like it at the wedding. Don't stress yourself...cancel and find someone that can do what you want since you are paying for a service

I'm having the SAME problem. I waited WEEKS for a trial with 'the best of the best' in NYC- She made my hair look like a three year old did it. It looked like an elephant shat on my head. Unreal.
I'm freaking out- and searching for a hair person who travels.
