Hall search day 2
Okay it was day 2 of the reception hall search. I visited Leonard's of Great Neck and The Swan Club. They were both very nice.
Leonard's was stunning. It felt like such a classy place with huge crystal chandaliers everywhere. The rooms look very Roman, with statues on the walls. It was beautiful. They gave us the best prices yet! The BM was very nice and answered all my questions. The indoor chapel was amazing. Might make me change my mind about an outdoor ceremony, lol. Maybe we should get married on Dec. 7th, our dating anniversary. The outdoor ceremony area was okay, the indoor was much nicer. I believe the room he showed me was the Empire room (i have only 50-60 guests) with the cocktail hour in the room next door (the Parisian). The cocktail room was large but he said that there is a pull out wall to make the place more cozy for our small party. I also liked the chapel garden at Westbury Manor better. Prices were $54/person plus tax and tip or $59/person plus tax and tip if we had the Spanish station at cocktail hour (my fiance is puerto rican). This was for a sunday afternoon. Chair covers included with bow. 4 choice menu, Prime Rib Au Jus, Roasted Frenched chicken Breast, Broiled Filet of North Atlantic Salmon, Eggplant parmiggana(sp?).
The Swan Club was beautiful too but in a different way than the other places I looked at. I feel it was a little less formal but absolutely beautiful gardens. This place would be the perfect location for a spring wedding. I don't think I would have my wedding here unless I'd be able to fully utilize the outdoor cocktail hour and gardens for photos. It was hard to find, i was lost for about 1/2 hour. Everyone was very nice and made me feel welcome. We would get married in the pavilion. Think something like a long building with windows throughout and large glass doors on each end. They said you can open all the windows and doors and you feel like you're outside under a tent. Perfect just in case it rains. Then after the ceremony the cocktail hour would be served outdoors in the gardens on a deck next to the water, very nice. The only think I didn't like was the deck flooring looked a little old and worn, no paint or stain finish. The up to our room for the reception. A small room but then again I'm only having 50-60 people. There's a huge floor to ceiling window on the back wall, that would be behind our bridal dais that looks out into the gardens and water. I did not like the carpet at all but I noticed it can be removed, like an area rug. Chair covers not included and trust me, you's want them. They quoted me April-Oct, Fri, Sat Am, Sunday am or pm $70 plus tax and tip or Sat pm $90 plus tax and tip. this was for the silver package. 3 choice dinner. The platinum package was $20 more per person. If i have it on a holiday like memorial day or july 4th then it would be $55/person. Children under 12 meals and vendor meals are $35.
This is going to be such a difficult decision!! I still have more places to check out. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask.
