FH and I are in the same boat. We got invited to a costume party and need to come up with costumes. I like Homer and Marge Simpson, of Frankenstein and the Bride of Frankenstein, I thought that would be fitting. He wants to go as something dark and scary. I know we are not going to see eye to eye on this one. I saw a cute couple costume in a magazine. It was salt and pepper shakers. It was so cute, the girl was the salt and the guy pepper. But I know my FH wouldn't go for that so I didn't even mention it.

I am in the midst of making costumes for me & FI and our trip to WDW. Two years ago he was Pinocchio and I was the Blue Fairy. This year we will be Peter Pan & Wendy!!!

My Fh neice's bday is 10/30 so last year for the 1st bday party they made it a costum party and we got form party City the cheerleaders from saturday night live. I thought maybe it would be corny but everyone thought it was hysterical and its even funnier if your FH is a big guy and masculine to see him in a cheerleading outfit. Just a suggestion. Costumes we and friend of ours have done...
Britney Spears and Eminem Zorro and Catherine Zeta Jones' character (I NEVER remember her name!) Raggedy Ann and Andy Liberty and Justice Sonny and Cher (much funnier if the woman is Sonny and the man is Cher ) old man and old woman (again, funnier with gender reversal) Prostitute and Street corner (I'll scan a picture if you want... this was the BEST costume duo I've ever seen!)

My friends went as 'couch potatoes' one year and won!
They got a big refrigerator box. Put it sideways and cut one of the sides off (the long side) and then attached it to the other side so it was like the back of the couch. Then where you'd sit he cut two holes for them to stand in so now they stand in it and the bottom is cut out so they can walk and it had a back on it. Then they got cheezy flowery fabric and draped it over the 'couch' and made sure the back was covered so no one saw their backsides and stapled it to the sides and front with a staple gun. Cut holes in the fabric where the holes in the box are. Then get rope and put on box one on each side of the holes so that when you put the couch 'on' the ropes hold it up without you holding it up with your arms (ie: like suspenders). Then got a pair of worn old jeans and a pair of jogging pants and stuffed them and stapled the tops to the hole and flipped the pants legs over the front of the couch to look like legs. Stuff the pants and attach cheezy looking slippers (he got those feety slippers that have the non slip things on the soles of them). Then he wore a lumberjack type shirt and some budweiser t-shirt and a jets cap and she wore some ugly too big sweatshirt and a wig and glasses that were from the 60's. They were HILARIOUS. Oh she wore a t-shirt under the sweatshirt and after they stepped into the box they put the ropes over their shoulders and then she put on the sweater and he put on the shirt so no one saw the ropes.
So that might be too much work to do but hey - they won $500.

A friend of mine was dating this girl once who was in fashion design school and she made them Batman and Catwoman costumes. They looked awesome! I also went to OBI one Halloween and saw some people dressed up as the Oompa Loompas (from Willy Wonka). You could also do Major Nelson and Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie. Maybe even Dracula and Elvira.

An ex and I went to a party as the Sorcerer's Apprentice (me) and a broom (him). I wish I had pics, but he has them all and it was at least 6 years ago.

a cowgirl and boy, really cheap and so cute! we did it last halloween, dark jeans a jean jacket, white shirt and a hat, then we got those kids guns and belt thing, it was a big hit
