I'm pretty new to this board. Just got engaged on 10/26/03 and am planning a small wedding for 10/22/05. Does anyone know of a reception hall that will be willing to accomodate only 75-100 people. We only want our wedding at this location, so I know it can be tough because most places need you to guarantee a certain number. Any help would be appreciated! :)

Re: Halls for smaller gatherings
We had our wedding at Captain Bill's in Bay Shore... We had 109 people, and the room was on the harbor...the food was amazing and everyone had a great time. The staff was wonderful and very accomodating.

In Suffolk or Nassau County?
Old Field Club San Souci Chateau Briand (my friend is getting married there and she has 100 people)
That's all I can think of for now...
Good Luck

I'm using the George Washington Manor in Roslyn. The minimum is under 100 and the max is 150.

Re: Halls for smaller gatherings
I'm having a fairly small wedding (150 guests or so) and I booked the Old Field Club in Setauket. So far, I've had a good experience working with the people there, and the setting is beautiful!
Here's their website: www.oldfieldclub.com
Good luck and congrats on your engagement!

Sunset Harbour in Patchogue, just don't tell 2003Oct10, she'll want to come, she loved the food there for her wedding a few weeks ago.
Stewart Manor Country Club, as for James. We had 100 people and it was perfect.

Re: Halls for smaller gatherings
you should go to the ones you think you will like, some places will be flexible with the minimum - so tell them about 80 and see if they will book you. Some places may have multiple rooms to fit smaller affairs. Examples: Fox Hollow, Glen Island Harbor, Crest Hollow country club, Metropolitan (has downstairs for 50-75people). I'm booked at North Ritz Club and I have 100 - plus the whole faciltiy for our Affair - which is awesome, you should check them out.

Re: Halls for smaller gatherings
You may have time in reality before you book your hall, but the sooner you book the more money you'll save since a lot of places raise their prices on Jan 1.

Re: Halls for smaller gatherings
Wow, I never thought of that.. Is this natural practices for all halls to raise prices on january 1st? OK here goes another stupid question, what is the basic down payment for a hall?

Re: Halls for smaller gatherings
Ours was 10%, but some halls vary prob around $1000-2000 deposit.
