Hand cancelling question

Original post by yelley77

I'm getting ready to go bring my invites to the post office. The lady there is a royal biotch and i know she is going to give me an attitude when I tell her I want to hand cancel.

I had no idea what hand cancelling was before LIW, so i just want to make sure that I have this right.

I'm asking to hand cancel them so that they don't go through the machine, right? I'm a total tart and spaz, we all know this, but she is scary and i don't want her to yell at me.

Dont know if you went yet but when you go just make sure youre assertive like you know what you want and you know why you want it. Dont go there like in a vulnerable state cause youre already afraid of her.

LMAO I feel like Im talking about how you should act around a pit bull!

Seriously - don't let that postal -person make you feel bad - you should not have to go out of your way to mail your invites.I thought hand cancelling simply meant that mail was not put through the machines which we would want so they stay pretty - no big pink lines across the envelopes....personally, our nvites are flat so they'll just get mailed

Re: Hand cancelling question

I'm back and the lady was nice. There are two bitchy women, but i got the nicer of the two. she was asking me about the wedding and being friendly, i was shocked, lol.

anyway, she said she'd hand cancel them and it was no problem. I feel like a huge weight is off my shoulders. thanks girls!

Awwwww that must have been a relief. I had a really nice PO woman too asking me questions about the wedding. Glad everything went well!

I think you may have to hand cancel them. I went to the post office on Monday to weigh them and they told me I had no choice but to hand cancel them b/c they wouldnt fit in the machine.

You're so funny...dog whisperer! I know I hate going to the post office. I found a, strange, but nice man in the one by my office who is very helpful though.

Thank you and the rest of you girls.

While driving there i imagined her saying, 'sure i'll take those, let me get a box' and then coming back to the counter with a gun and killing me

i made them on the computer so that i could type them. i have awful handwriting and i wanted t obe able to write a nice, personal message in each and i wouldn't have been able to if i hand wrote them. It took me a few hours, i bought thick paper at staples and a box of envelops and viola, done.

NICE!! I love actual thank you cards and I did them for my e-party last year. but after 15 my messages got shorter, my handwriting got messier and i didn't get to say half of what i wanted to, ya know?

I know, I hated to sound so generic because I feel like it starts to sound insincere when I definitely wasn't being so. I made sure to write something more than the usual, but how much else can you say? I wanted to order some on-line but they would've been even more money. I only have a few more to go though..missing addresses.

Yes, I work in Levittown & was told that some girls even help with it. They may give attitude because so short staffed. Offer to help.
I read on here somewhere someone even paid like 5cts or something. I would not pay!!!

we brought ours to Mineola Post Office and they did it without being asked. I doubt they will give you a problem.
