Did this make the mass alot longer?? I am very pressed for time but I love the words, and I really wanted the priest to read it. I'm just worried that extra 10 mins is going to be a problem.

Re: Hands Prayer
I would think it may add at most 5-10 minutes.
Do the priests frown upon this ceremony or not?

Re: Hands Prayer
CANU POST THAT PRAYER??? I was just telling my fmil about it..I cry every time I hear it at a wedding!
I told my priest about it and he wants to see the prayer. I asked if I could have an aunt or a friend read it.

No. I was surprised that he never heard of it also. But come to think of it.. I have never seen or heard of it before 8/05 on LIW.

Re: Hands Prayer
Our priest was a friend, and he placed it at the very end of the mass, as part of the final blessing. It was great there, because it was after communion, everyone was seated and I think more people paid attention to the words than if it were mixed in with the vows and the rest of the mass.
ETA: I think it only added about 5 minutes or less Several people told me afterwards that they thought it was beautiful.

Re: Hands Prayer
It is a beautiful prayer and if you want it part of your day you will regret if you skip it for an extra 5-10 minutes.
We did it in PreCana and I cried hysterically so I knew I couldnt handle it on my actual wedding day.

Re: Hands Prayer
Here is ours..we did it as a reading:
Stacey and Gary will you please face each other and hold hands, so you may feel the gift that you are to one another.
These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours today as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever. These are the hands that will work alongside yours as together you build your Future. These are the hands that will love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch will comfort you like no other. These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief wracks your mind. These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes, tears of sorrow and tears of joy. These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children. These are the hands that will help you to hold your family as one. These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it. These are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch. These four hands will give you support as you build your life and future. Reaching first out to each other, then united towards the world, these hands will be your strength, your shield, your shelter, and your guide.
