HAPPY UPDATE on p. 3! Getting married in 3 days and my venue is closed

That thunderstorm that came through yesterday hit NW Connecticut particularly hard, and the inn where we're getting married had to close. They sent all their guests to a hotel in another town. 24 hours later, there is still no electricity or hot water, and the only road into town is blocked by trees and downed power lines.

The owner tells me that all should be well by the time people start arriving... 36 hours from now... but I'm kinda freaking out here.

Oh, and the weather for Saturday is now 88 degrees with a 40% chance of rain. Yuck. Changed from 80 degrees and 10% chance of rain, like they'd been saying for the past 6 days. And the ceremony and cocktail hour are outside, with no tent.

Don't worry, it will be beautiful. I had a friend who got married a week after hurricane Rita in Florida and her wedding was amazing!
The weather reports will change 2 or 3 more times before you wedding day so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Think positive!

I don't think so. There's a 'Plan B' in case of rain, and at this point... I'd just be happy if my wedding happened at all.

Thank you everyone. You're very sweet.

I can't believe that with only 2 days and 15 hours to go, my venue is not open for business!

The owner didn't seem concerned; he was more worried about getting my final count for the rehearsal dinner and stuff. I'm just taking deep breaths and trying to remain calm...

Picking up my dress tomorrow, my shoes, and packing, and then I'm off to CT Friday morning (assuming the roads are open!)

wow, that is so stressful. the venue seems confident that everything will work out, and it might be work your own peace of mind to hire a DOC if you dont have one right now. your wedding will be amazing, and they can clear the paths and get everything fixed. you still have time, and amazing things can be done in three days. i'll be thinking of you

Honey your wedding is happening come rain or shine...even if there is no electric... think of the hundreds of candles you could use....
