Has anyone ever changed vendors after leaving deposit?

Has anyone ever changed vendors after leaving deposit?

I feel guilty. I already booked my florist. I think I gave $100 deposit. But I LOVE the flowers that Flower Michele has! They stuff at Jericho Terrace and Oheka that they displayed this week was SOOO beautiful!!! I want to make an appointment with them... I feel like I'm cheating on my current florist! Has anyone else done this?

I've never done it but you shouldn't feel like you're cheating your current florist. Its your special day and you should be happy with everything including your flowers. Besides you wouldn't be losing that much if they didn't give you back your deposit. I would make an appointment with Flower Michele see what ideas he comes up with, but first make sure he has your day available before you cancel the other florist otherwise you could end up with no flowers. If you're really in love with what Flower Michele can give you and you don't think your florist can give you the same, then I would cancel the first florist. Maybe you should talk to your florsit about what you want and what will make you happy. You never know, they may surprise you.

i actually just did exactly that... florist also!

i love the florist i originally had (my sister is using them) which was James Cress and I left $400 down and signed. but then when I was at a showcase for the company that owns Flowerfield (Lovin Oven) I found out that they just bought a wholesale company and started their own florist!

They found this amazing designer (Keyth) and 'stole' him from another florist...
once i saw Keyth's work it took my breath away!! it's different yet still traditional/classic and such QUALITY work.

of course, james cress has amazing quality work also but the big difference for me?? the price... ONLY b/c I am a Flowerfiled bride and they bought the wholesale company Keyth can do more for me than James Cress can because I'm booked at FF...he gave me everything for JUST above wholesale!!

So I was able to get more for less money and budget wise, I had to do it AND I felt completely comfortable knowing that the quality of Lovin Oven as a company--with everything they do--can be trusted so I didn't have to worry about that either, it was a no brainer for me.

i still love James Cress so much and my sister's flowers will be awesome (she's not a FF bride so she would not have benefited from that).

i called james cress and told them the truth, since i booked so far from my date they refunded me all of my $400 (it clearly states in my contract that the deposit is kept for the costs of consultations and sample CPs and BOks but since I had no CPs and BOks made yet and the consulation is only about 50 bucks they threw it in and said they understood--they are great business wise and I thanked them very much and they said no problem)!

so whether you want to tell them the truth or you want to (AWFUL BUT HEY!!) tell them that the wedding has been postponed or EEK cancelled... Keyth told me that sob stories get money back big time LOL so bad but oh well.. it's entirely up to you... but you should be able to and don't feel bad about it. follow your heart and do what feels right!!

to be honest, john at flower michele has been the only other florist besides James and Keyth that I have seen and been impressed with. John's stuff is GREAT!

Good Luck!!!

Plenty of brides have done it - w/florists, reception sites, DJ's, etc...

Have you gotten a sample CP from your current florist yet? Perhaps you can bring pictures to replicate the work.
