Has anyone ever heard of diamond white? Is it actually white? Soo upset about my dress..

Original post by SN2BMRSBURTE

I am soooo upset because I think the dress shop prdered my dress in ivory instead of white. Everytime I see a girl in my dress the embroidery looks silver, and mine looked gold, I think I remember her saying she ordered diamond white for me....my FH's tux is white, so if it is actually ivory I will look dirty, I feel sick

Yeah, but wouldnt you notice a differance when standing next to a man in a white tux?

Question - is your FH wearing a white TUX (meaning the jacket and pants) or just white shirt/vest/tie inside of his tux?

The whole tux is white

Diamond white is very white - not ivory at all

My dress was silk, so it's basically 'diamond white'... that's what I ordered my shoes and veil in.... it wasn't ivory at all, it just wasn't stark white

Ok girls, so I called the dress shop, and FMIL had to go there anyway for her dress fitting. The woman there checked my file and said that it had been ordered in white, not diamond white, and they held my dress up next to a diamond white Jasmine dress made of the same material, and I guess mine is pure white. FMIL said there wasnt a big diff though, but I guess mine is white...so I freaked out for nothing. I still dont understand why the embroidery looks gold in my pics though, and silver in everyone else's....but that doesnt matter......SO.....

Thanks to all the girls who answered my post, and keep watching Bridezillas....I think I will be on there soon...

My dress was diamond white, you can look at the pictures, its not really Ivory (maggie sottero dress) but other designers it borders on ivory. If DH is in a white tux you will be fine. Here is a pic of my dress, DH is wearing a stark white shirt-I thought my dress was ordered wrong and ordered in white at first...but when I stood next to a white dress the difference was so slight that really cant tell

My dress is a silk diamond white dress and it is a soft white-not an ivory. It is not a stark white and not an ivory, it is a white without the starkness! Actually, it is suppose to be the most complimenting of them all-I hope this makes you feel better!

My dress was Diamond White. It's just not as stark as white. Which I personally liked especially on my skin tone.

I wouldn't have your FH change his tux. I think his white will be fine. But I guess if he did Ivory it would make you look more white if that's what you wanted.

There's a huge difference between the Diamond and Ivory.. don't worry

diamond white is much closer to white than ivory... to my eye, it generally can be described as a soft white, or between off white and bright white.

most brides wanting a white gown don't order a stark white, rather they order diamond white.

I agree with others, you should look at the gown in daylight. Store lighting can be deceiving. Also, bring fabrics of reference.... something white, and something ivory. Then you can really determine the real dress color.

Have you tried comparing the dress to something really white? You will be able to tell if it is off white. Remeber the lighting in stores can be very decieving, it may look different under natural light.

Thats right. Wear a white shirt to the fitting or to view the dress. This way you'll know. Good luck.

My dress was diamond white--it is closer to white (just softer) than ivory...DH had white shirt and was fine.

I have an Eve of Milady and when I tried the dress sample on I fell in love and they said do you want white or ivory I said white they told me that the sample was ivory so I ordered the ivory. Some designers are different. BUT try and compare it to the sample in the store. You need to be happy with what you are wearing and if it was their mistake they need to fix it!
