...that you're 'obsessed with weddings'?

So me and my MOH were texting back and forth last night about upcoming concerts we're going to and I said to her 'you should google AJ Ingoglia, his work is amazing, I don't even know these people and I'm tearing up!'

Her response: 'no way, I'm watching criminal minds. You're a little obsessed with weddings.'

Uhhh did I miss something? Obsessed?! We were talking about concerts! I told her I would remind her she said that when she's planning hers (she just got engaged two weeks ago).

I know I'm a little overly sensitive but wasn't that just unnecessarily bitchy?

*this same girl has also said multiple times, I can't believe you're spending this much money on a wedding. And I only have a 20k budget!!!!

Yeah and I am!!! I love planning my wedding and gathering ideas. I don't care what any one says. This is a once in a lifetime experience and I want to take it all in and be obsessed so I can enjoy it as much as possible!!! Anyone who thinks that's annoying-oh well!

Fh tells me that all the time but he's just joking. I actually only talk to my sister in law and cousin about the wedding because if one of my friends told me that I'd have to say something to her. I say ignore it. She'll see how it is.

FH tells me all the time. I try not bore friends and family with all the little details. But luckily I have you girls!

All of the time--my mom tells me I need to calm down. I think unless someone is planning, they don't really get it.

Ugh the old side jab...I'd say let it go, unless it happens again..then the gloves are off!

FH told me I overreacted and there's no way I can know her tone via text lol this girl and I have been best friends for 20 years so we can get under each others skin sometimes!

Yes! and I am. I've been obsessed with weddings for years & I've helped coordinate others weddings and now I am so happy to be planning mine (or should I say ours )

No one has come right out and told me that I'm obsessed with weddings, but then again I refrain from being that way around most people because they just won't get it. I agree, that's why I have you ladies!

Has anyone ever told you...

No one has told me to my face about it... but I'm sure they've said it. But I try really hard to not talk about it unless I'm asked or unless weddings come up. My FSIL made a comment once to her mom on how 'Tom and Katie have all this money to spend on a wedding...' and now SHE'S engaged and her 'backyard bbq less than 3k' that she originally was planning has now turned into a much bigger ordeal and she's realizing that FH and I have a budget of 20k and thats super LOW for a wedding!


Luckily for us we all have this site and each other and I also have a TON of friends getting married in the next 18 months to talk to wedding stuff about so I try to keep it to a minimum with my self-admitting single and bitter friends LOL

I wish! He was out of our budget, but I still love watching his videos bc they're so incredible.

I try not to bore anyone with the little details either which is why it annoyed me. I had only mentioned it in passing so what gives? I know I need to get over it but it just irritated me lol she'll see how it is when it's her turn!

I haven't gotten the your wedding obssessed but all my bridesmade keep on telling me it's too early, you have plenty of time, omg why so early. None who have planned a wedding either I am almost at the point where the next time I hear that I am going to flip and be like let me see how you are when you plan your....probably with a couple of curse words added lol. Also one of my bridesmaid said we need to pace you. Just for the record I have almost been engaged a year and only have the venue, doc, photographer and videographer booked. We just started our registry. So I think I am more than well paced. They will see when they go to plan theres. If she says it again I think you should say something back.

I get told this ALL the time by friends. At first it was funny, but now it's starting to get insulting. They've started being a little mean about it. My opinion is if they're not excited for me, if they're not a great friend, that's a perfect way to cut my guest list! LOL

people have made the comment to me about how fast I booked things and everything and sometimes I really don't think people realize just how quickly things book up! we live on long island. there are only SOOOO many venues and only SO many vendors and I wanted to make sure I booked who I wanted so I can get what I want. There are only SO many weekends in a year as well.

Also... the year is already flying so tell them to pace their face. lol

I'm going to see Andrew McMahon at the Paramout next month!! I've been dying to see him live for literally 10 years. I was also thinking about Matchbox 20 and possibly that big country music festival this summer. Who are you going to see??

exactly! I keep telling them that and tell them that I am technically a little behind. We are fighting another couple for a dj right now and I told them that and was like see not crazy, not early. It's called getting who you want and not who's available. I don't want to get stuck with Joe smoe and have 1001 things to do all last minute. I have been leisurely over the past year meeting with vendors booking things, planning. It took me 3 months to pick a venue, and about that for photography lol. I need the time cause I am not making quick decisions when it comes to this lol.

I haven't been told this, but I don't talk much about my wedding to people who aren't family unless they ask or if they're engaged so we can both talk about our weddings! I wouldn't let what she said bother you, though. Once she starts planning, she'll get it!

I honestly think it was a b!tchy move by your friend. I think that when your planning a wedding, it's bound to come up in the/a conversation. I think it's the amount that you talk about it that really determines if its an obsession. I actually make it a point to talk about non wedding stuff with all my friends and bridal party people. Plus I'm lucky that I have all you ladies to talk to and one of my BMs (MMordocco on here) is also getting married. We talk weddings a lot :)

I just wouldn't let her get to you. And I wish I could keep the cost down to 20k - that's amazing!

Oh, he was out of budget for us too, but I had to have him for the wedding, even if it meant cutting the cost on my flowers which I always said I'd spend the most on. It worked out because we ended up getting quoted way less than we expected for flowers.

And as for your friend, her time will come one day and one word KARMA!
