A friend who all of sudden is acting completely weird, strange & somewhat jealous because you are engaged and or getting married before them?

Re: Has anyone experienced???
Yes. I had a girlfriend who was with her bf for 8 years and was waiting to be propsed to and then I got engaged after being with my bf for only a little over a year and she basically stopped talking to me. I felt really bad for her, knowing it was probably hard for her to be happy when she was so upsert about her own situation, but at the same time I think she was a bit rude. I hear that she recently got engaged though!

yup, really strange. I had a friend she was a little older and LOVED all the attention on her...she had a BF who...well lets just say there was a lot of problems during their year/yearand a half relationship...anyways she gave him the altimadem that if he didnt propose her her by her brothers wedding ( which was coming up) with an x amount of carats then she was leaving him. poor guy. anyways he proposed to her and everything was great. i guess amount 4 months later my FH proppsed to me and at first it was all good. then slowly she started acting weird trying to saying things like oh you have to move in w/ fh right away...trying to force her ideas on me..well she started becoming unrealiable. we had made plans to take our vacations from work the same week... well she was mia...i was pissed. anyways since she was so mia i made other arrangements and it turns out she wanted to get lunch one afternoon and i thought that would be perfect bc i had to meet fh for dinner. well she was late but lunch was good we talked about wedding stuff and i was even trying to help her w planning. anyways she got really mad at me when i didnt want to finish my sangria. i explained that that i had to drive to fh house to talk about wedding stuff and she was like... fiish the pitcher or your not my friend...yup she said that! i was like well i didnt think i had to prove my friendship to you blah blah blah. i was like i cant drunk i have to drive.shes like make fh pick you up and drive you... i was like no hes already on his was home im not making him come back...shes like well frank would do it for me! i was like no im not making fh drive all over the place. anyways we left and i havent talked to her since.... i went from being a birdesmaid to not even talking toher.... really strange right? I still dont even understadn what happened but im better off without her anyway...every thing happens for a reason!

that hasn't actually happened to me. most of my friends are not in steady relationships or at a point in their lives where they would even want to get married, so they're not jealous or acting strange. but some aren't as involved or happy as i thought they'd be

That's so sad! It sounds like she had some issues that she was taking out on you. I have had some friendships end because of things like that. Now I know who my true friends are though and those are the friends that will be my bridesmaids. Luckily, all that was pretty much taken care of before FH proposed! Haha. I do have friends who might be a little jealous or want to be in the same situation as I am in and I can understand that. For the most part though, I feel that they are happy for me just like I will be happy for them when they are engaged.

Totally strange! Quite onbviously she has no idea what it takes to make a real relationship work. Appreciation & respect for one another counts the most. Very proud of you for sticking to your guns! She has no respect for FH she runs him like she owns him. I dont wish it on anyone but if her FH actually wakes up one day & realizes this they wont be married very long.

all my friends are in steady relationships so i dont think there is any animosity at all - but i dont talk about my wedding or try to rub it in anyones face either - as long as you arent talking about your engagement/wedding 24/7 i dont see any reason how it could upset anyone...

Re: Has anyone experienced???
I think that a lot of people feel that way when people get married because it starts to bring out issues in someone's relationship.
When I was with my last ex, we were together for around three years and had been told that when I graduated from college we would get engaged. I moved in with him my last semester only to have him say two weeks later that he couldn't handle it and when the semester was over I should move out (I lived with him because it was closer of a commute than living with my parents). Then he told me that he didn't want to talk about marriage or the future anymore because it freaked him out and I had rushed him into doing too many things (which was not true because transferring schools and moving in was a joint decision that we talked about for a long time).
Right before all of this my cousin who was 19 at the time decided that she wanted to get married to her BF at the time and flaunted in my face for months and kept asking when me and the ex would get married, even though she knew we were having problems. I was really upset and jealous because of what had happened with my relationship.
We eventually broke up because we saw the relationship going in different places. Within weeks I met FH and when we decided to get engaged my other cousin who had been dating a guy for 8 years with no intention to marry him decided that she was going to get engaged and get married before us. It never ends! There is always going to be someone who feels threatened or upset or jealous. It's just a given.

luckily i havent really experianced any of this... thats probably due a large part to my age. but my one friend who is engaged, and was engaged a few months before me hasnt acted affected by this. in fact she was really happy when i got engaged, we discuss our weddings together all the time. theyre a month apart, but i got engaged 6 months after her.. i dont think any of that ever crossed her mind.

i guess I can see how having a friend get engaged before you could bring out some insecurities in their relationships but sometime people can just be rude and try to bring you down...misery loves company so be careful girls! haha

Re: Has anyone experienced???
I have this with my brother's gf. They have been together for about 6 years and they say they are waiting to get engaged till my brother gets out of debt. I was with FH for a year when we got engaged and my brother's GF seemed fine. She was talking about how she would help and go looking at RH's with me and stuff. Well she went to florida for a week and during that week we booked an RH. when she came back she hasn't really spoken to me. Doesn't seem interested in the wedding and doesn't really come over anymore. I think maybe she felt eventhough we got engaged we wouldn't get married for a while and now that we have a date and place she realizes it's happening.

Re: Has anyone experienced???
Luckily, nothing has really happened with me. But I do have one friend that I get the feeling doesn't 'approve' of the wedding (she made similar comments to me about another friends of ours who got married after only knowing the guy for a short amount of time and the wedding was planned in only a few months, but they were Indian and that was more customary!). I just ignore it.

Re: Has anyone experienced???
I think it's sad to be jealous of someone's happiness instead of sharing in their joy. So many of my friends got engaged before me and as much as I was sad that it wasn't me, I never showed it, I was always so happy that they were happy...I knew my time would come as well so there was no reason to be mad at someone else's happiness
Girls are crazyyy lol

I know! Its just this friend was dating her bf about 2 yrs longer then me & FH & she was telling everyone that i better not get engaged b4 her & then i did & now that my wedding is a month b4 hers, she is even more weird. So i figure screw it Im not going out of my way anymore i was so nice & asked if she needed any help & i was so happy fo rher that she finally got her ring. But now i know all of this Im like no way! She even tried to hate on my potential florist Pedelstals which I know are fabulous! But she was oh i heard that their flowers always come in half dead. So i said well i guess people will hear things about everyplace but i cant see a florist staying in business fo rthat long if they were half dead. SO STUPID! I dont get it.

Thats great I have two other friends who also are getting married & got enagaged around the same time as me. We are so close happily helping one another with everything! Its so much fun with them its a shame that this friend cant be in on it. HER LOSS!
