Has anyone had or been to a Thatched Cottage wedding?
I'm seriously considering having my wedding there in 2004. I've only had opions from a couple of people that have been to weddings there, but no one who actually had it there. Anyone have thoughts they can share?

I can only tell you that my parents went to a wedding there I think two years ago and RAVED about the place!

I went to wedding ther but it was 8 years ago. I was in the bridal party though and they were wonderful. Just make sure there will be a full lake when your wedding is

My mother went to a wedding there two weeks ago and was not impressed at all. But she said that it could have been better had they had an open bar. She was shocked that they had a cash bar. She also said the food was not very good, but that the service was great. I don't know personally because I have not been there. Other than what my mother told me, I have heard only good things. But I would go and see for yourself, that's the only real way of knowing.

My friend went to a wedding there last year and she thought it was great. I haven't been there myself, so I can't say firsthand. I would go to a tasting and see how the food is, you can pretty easily tell what the service is by how they treat you when you go there.

ouch- that's not good. I don't want a cash bar so hopefully there's an option. You're right- need to go and see. Being that we're planning the wedding in 8 mos if I go and like the looks of it I'll need to put a deposit down to hold the date... probably without tasting the food until after I've reserved it. I love food... don't want it to be bad!

Ok, I just asked my mother about the food, and she said the food at dinner was very good, but the coctail hour was really skimpy and not very nice. But at least dinner was good!

well that's better news! My relatives have close ties with the Thatched. My hopes are that Thatched wouldn't want to disappoint them and do good by them.

I just wanted to add to please not let me discourage you from choosing Thatched Cottage. Make sure you look for yourself. I would not feel right though if I didn't share what I have heard!

don't sweat it girfriend! I'm greatful for your input and it's not going to make or break my decision. I'm the type that need lots and lots of opionions and I realize that they may all not be positive.

It's a beautiful place.. I went to a christening (very wedding-like though, soup to nuts) and it was a blast!

just heard from my sister in law that her mother inlaw didn't hear good things about it. There's got to be someone out there that has had or been to a wedding Recently there.
sil says that years ago it was great (which is cinsitent with what people have said about weddings they've been to ... YEARS AGO!).
What about Now? Please share good and bad.

I went to a wedding lasy 4th of july and thought it was great! Good food, very attentive and we did not pay for drinks..they also kept them coming all night!! Hope that helps!

My dad got married there back in 1996 and the wedding was wonderful. I do think that they have changed management since then. We are actually having a surpirse party for my SIL there next month. The package came with a huge cocktail hour, full three/four course dinner, open bar, and dessert. It is definitely worth checking out - I'll post a review once we have the party --
