I am thinking of adding Drums & Percussion with my DJ. I was told the drummer plays with every song and it sounds great. Has anyone had this or been to a wedding and heard this? If so, what did you think? Thank you for your help in advance.

Re: Has anyone heard Drums & Percussion w/ a DJ?
I have seen/heard and booked the drums/percussionist. I think it adds some more to the music when being played. I am big on music..... Plus, we are also need Spanish music played and where the drums would set the background perfect. It sounds great.
I wasnt booking a DJ without it!

I think it sounds great! We are adding that as well to our DJ. I know all of the DJ companies we looked at do that. They show videos as well.

Yes...its wonderful! We were going to do it but another $600 is just too much when we're already way over budget!
I am having drums and a percussionist with my DJ and from what I have heard it sounds great.

I am doing this b/c my FH wanted a band and we just couldn't swing the cost so I added a live percussionist! We too will be having a lot of Spanish music so I thought this would be fantastic! We booked with LI Sound Entertainment and our percussionist's name is howie! Ask for him he is wonderful! He is also playing the steel drum during the cocktail hour! fm me for prices if you want them!

We heard the percussionist with the DJ at wedding we went to in Sept. My FH loved it....and since this was the only thing he requested...i booked it.

Yes - I saw him at a wedding and FI and I were both so impressed. We were convinced that we wanted him no matter what!! He is so passionate about beating those drums, and he is great at it :)

My brother had this at his wedding and I really liked it. I think he used Dance Jock. They were really good.

Well, I guess I am in the minority here, but my sister had one at her wedding, and the drummer overpowered the music. It was a little confusing because he was playing his own thing over the music and I did not think it complemented it well at all. I think you should either have one or the other, a band or a DJ. That is my personal opinion. I am a professional musician, and I think that mixing live and recorded music just doesn't go. There's no 'give' to the recorded music, so you're extremely limited as to what you can do if you add a live performer. Just thought I'd add the flip side to it.

A lot of the dj companies are doing something like that now. Some have other live musicians added too. I think it's a neat idea for a few songs and I can see where it adds an extra something special. But to play all night like that I've heard it can get annoying, esp for those sitting close by.
