all the halls were saying how many 08 days are already filling
the one florist said i have plenty of time to decide what i want and dont have to rush but its never too soon to start looking

Re: Has anyone run into this problem with vendors

I booked my RH without a problem, but when I called La Blossom flowers Laurie did not give me an apt. but rather told me to call back in 07. I found that to be really rude. Also, when I called Masters and Co. in Rockville Center for flowers the lady was very surprised that I wanted to book an apt now. She could not believe that I knew my colors. I wanted to tell her 'lady i've been planning my wedding all of my life....I know what colors I want!!!!!!' but i didnt.... so i'm meeting with her Dec. 5th.
Flowers Michelle had no problems booking an apt with me.
I'm also trying to get in touch with Burtons, but they have been closed.

Next will be the photo/video vendors....any suggestions on those?

My string quartet said that they don't book until a year before the actaul wedding. But aside from them, I didn't have any problems.

for a dj i used classie sounds, i really liked them and i didnt even lok anywhere else - and i LOOOVE LOVE LOVE designs by rose. . . they just emailed me to tell me they found the candles that i want to use for the table numbers. . . any other vendor would have seriously forgotten all about it!

oops - i lied tho i still have to book my limos!! going to look at camelot and royalty soon! but of course this is the one thing i want to plan with FH so i have to wait forever for him!

Re: Has anyone run into this problem with vendors

I did run into it with two different photographers that I like.

Originally I was really annoyed...but then I thought about it, and I realized that it's actually really responsible of them.

Both of the photographers I like are not a part of a large company so they own their own business. Who knows if they will want to do wedding photography in two years (my FSIL is a wedding photog and she contemplates this every year - think about it - you shoot mostly on weekends, and never get to see your DH or SO because you work off schedules, etc).

I'd rather them be sure, and have me wait until year out to book them than have them booked 2 years out and have them cancel a few months before my wedding....

Most of them have told me to book it now so this way I can get 2006 prices because they will go up next year. Maybe the vendors just are telling you that so you can pay more when you book it at a later date.

Re: Has anyone run into this problem with vendors

I'm having a big problem with this - the place I want to get married in (a country inn, not a catering hall) typically books its dates 9 months to a year in advance, and the innkeeper is being sooooo slooooow in getting back to me about prices and stuff. He's not being rude, I just think he thinks, 'what's the big deal? Her wedding is 19 months away' so he's not really rushing to get me prices on things. Meanwhile, every time the phone rings or I see that I have a new email, I'm like, 'is this it??' and it's not.

I really hope he's not trying to stall or trying to figure out what 2008 prices might be, because I can just barely afford what I think it's going to cost based on 2006 prices.

Re: Has anyone run into this problem with vendors

i think its really ridiculous that these vendors are doing this. 2008 is not that far away. Look how many girls are on the date twin thread with their halls booked. I am sorry if i want to get head start. but christmas time is when ALOT of people get engaged and just want to have a head start before those girls start booking everything
Maybe im just having a bridezilla moment, but its hurtful the things people say, like they dont take you seriously because its in 2008

That's what I'm hearing... but most of the vendors I want aren't typical vedding vendors (legandary night club DJ, Fashion photoghapher, award winning film maker... Thanks to my parents for giving us this fab wedding gift!!!
