Has this happened to you???/

Ok brides I would love your feed back on this 'issue'.

I am planning my LI wedding for June of 2007. I have already started calling up vendors, as early as Feb thinking I would be ahead of the game. I did this so I could get price quotes, this way I could start saving up. At that time vendors were already telling me that they were booked or dates were moving fast. At first I thought this was a line given to make me and the groom sign up then and there. But I recently called a florest back and he is already booked, and not just for my date but most of June!!!

I thought I could follow those time lines all the bridal mags have but turns out I am wrong.

Has anyone else had this problem?
Is this a LI only problem because we are so grand with our events?

I don't know if this is so much a LI thing, but I think because there are so many people that get engaged and they want to lock in certain vendors as fast as possible. A lot of people book ahead to get 06' prices as well.

I would book the major stuff now (RH, DJ, Photo/Video,etc..)

Also June is a very popular month

definatly if you see a vendor you love and it's open for that day book it asap.. june is a prime wedding month.

i would definalty say start activly looking quickly.

From my experience, those timelines work everywhere except NY. Planning a wedding in NY is very different from just about every other place in the universe.

Same here! I thought I would take my time with this, but then I'm seeing late '07, early '08 girls booked everything. It freaked me out a little, so now I'm trying to get everything done ASAP

Keep in mind though, there are a lot of good vendors out there. I've noticed that a lot of girls on this site book the same 5-10 vendors. There's still great ones outside of those. Just ask friends, friends of friends, family, coworkers, etc ... and meet with them. I still use the search function on this site because usually at least 1 bride has used them, but there's other sites you can search as well.

I think ny weddings are more competitive than other states. We go all out for our weddings so that's why things book so fast. I'm panicing about the photographers. I'm getting married in August 07 and i've only booked the ceremony/reception, and the band!

Yes I think those timeslines don't adhere to NY weddings...they are really off...

Start booking...

I am going to tell my FH and we better get our butts in gear!! I am having my first Flower appt tomorrow - very excited about it!!
