Do not rely on this site for researching vendors. Make sure that you check the BBB ratings, look on other websites (but be cautious as well because I am sure they do the same thing), do a general Google search and most importantly... Go with your gutt. If your gutt is saying something is not right.. you are probably right

I thought that this site was to get advice bad, good, or indifferent? I got a lot of my vendors from the opinions of you girls!!!

Apparently only if they are not a LIW vendor. If they are a LIW vendor bad reviews seem to always disappear.

I haven't been here long but I have a ton of friends from years prior who were on this site (hence me finding it!) and they told me not to rely on this site for reviews because you'll only find good ones. Apparently because the vendors 'pay the bills' they can complain that a negative review was posted and usually the admins will remove them. I think part of it is also based on how you choose your words. I think if you use anything like 'don't use these people' or say anything other than sticking to your experience it will be removed. I didn't see your original post but maybe this was the reason? I'm not sure. Then again there was a photographer that was a vendor on here for a long time that was recently all over the news for how he didn't deliver a final product to his brides. Because he used to be a vendor here you wouldn't have found any bad reviews on him. Now that he's no longer a vendor, you can't find any reviews at all! It's a shame. My advice (and what I do)? Use this site as a way to connect with other brides for support/suggestions and a jumping off point for your vendors. But make sure to do your research off this site. Use other wedding sites that allow those negative reviews, check BBB, and do simple Google searches using the vendor name and 'reviews'. It's a shame and while I don't agree with the practice around here, it doesn't seem the admins or site owners see any issue with it so there isn't much we can do since we're not paying the bills.

to me it just makes the vendor look even more shady.

I get that they are paying for the advertising on here, but come on. if you dont have anything to hide, then let the truth be out there. listen we all work, so we know that not everyone is going to be 100% all day every day.

we all know people will have bad experiences, and i would have more respect for a vendor that let a bad review stay up, and a few days later have that same bride who complained come back on and say XXX vendor saw my post, and rectified the situation and now we are all very happy.
