Have any of your guests said your wedding date is not convenient for them??
I'm in the mood to inlaw bash. Just wondering if anyone voiced their opinion that they weren't happy w/your wedding date.
Our Wedding is Sept. 2-Labor Day Weekend. FBIL- 'I wish your wedding was in the middle of the summer, that would be better for us. My son starts school two days later and we have to get him ready.'
What I would have liked to have said-'I realize that kids do need alot of things for the 1st day of school, but you have 1 child, he is 10 years old and your wife doesn't work. You have all summer to get him ready!!' (FH spoke to him).

My friend, but its ok with me!
She & her husband found out that they're pregnant, and the due date is right before our wedding.

Who else but FMIL because she had a trip planned the weekend before and 'had' to cancel it. Hey, no one asked you to cancel lady!

Mine is ON Labor Day - I hear it from FIL'S all the time. Our date is inconvenient for them - the traffic, work the next day, and so much more. Well maybe if they were contributing we could afford a better day of the week!!!

one of my friends -- when we first booked she was like 'you have so many friends that are teachers why are getting married on a Friday in September, that is the worst month for teachers!'
I knew it was a rough month since I worked as a speech teacher for BOCES. but we wanted a September wedding and if our guests really wanted to be there for us they'd find a way to share our day with us
sometimes I wonder about people

Yes. My best friend (one of my BM) called me shortly after we booked with the hall & church to tell me to change the date becasue I'm getting married on Yom Kippur & her & her family couldn't make it. My friend is still coming, but her mother still makes a big deal about how she'll have to miss my wedding because it's on a holiday

The only person who said something to us (and not to us directly, but to MIL) was DH's stepgrandmother. She was complaining that the wedding was the same weekend as her granddaughter's bat mitsva (sp?) so she would be sooooo busy all weekend. The kicker was that she wasn't even invited to the bat mitsva (sp?)!

Besides having a great wedding date (my bday) screw them! I think they can get the darn kid ready for school the day before! Anythng to complain! My FMIL asked if at our wedding we can sing happy birthday to her niece who will be turning 40 that day I said ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Well here's my 2 cents about this................IT IS YOUR WEDDING You are not asking anyone to give you their first born child, or an extra kidney or to give up Labor Day for the rest of their lives. Geez it's 1 Labor Day. For goodness sakes it's not the end of the world. They get to celebrate with a lovely wedding, great food, great music, and have a blast. I guess I don't see the problem? Who wouldn't want food, drinks, dancing, good company during a holiday weekend? Isn't that the point? Just remind them it's 1 HOLIDAY not every Labor Day for the rest of their lives. Perspective people.......they need perspective

My uncle said that my date is bad luck because he and my great aunt were married this date and are now divorced.

OMGosh yes! Some of my relatives said that and even complained to my parents....sigh...
But again there's only so much you can do to accommodate for people. Ultimately the date has to work the best for you and your FH.

Oh jeez!!! Why do people say things like this?!?!? Just tell him that it's your turn to do it right!
I haven't gotten any complaints about our date, but I hear complaints about the time of day from a lot of people...same thing, how a 9:30am ceremony is VERY inconveniant for THEM (FILs mostly). I agree, it's not ideal, but it's one more early morning that week that's going to be filled with food, booze & dancing - not work! Get over it people!

Re: Have any of your guests said your wedding date is not convenient for them??
Well no one SERIOUSLY complained...they more like made comments that since its int he middle of the summer its high season and airfare is outrageously expensive...but then I was like, well we're having it in the summer because I know the college kids are out of school and my mom and other teachers don't have to work... that usually shuts them up.

I so agree!!!! Its your day and ultimately you are going to do what you want to do and if they dont like it TOUGH!!!! I have an uncle who did not go to my sisters wedding and will not be coming to my wedding cuz we are not having kids under 16. Hes already voiced this to another uncle. SO RUDE!!!! This is a once in a lifetime event.
