Have any of your guests said your wedding date is not convenient for them??
Original post by AllJoy
I'm in the mood to inlaw bash. Just wondering if anyone voiced their opinion that they weren't happy w/your wedding date.
Our Wedding is Sept. 2-Labor Day Weekend. FBIL- 'I wish your wedding was in the middle of the summer, that would be better for us. My son starts school two days later and we have to get him ready.'
What I would have liked to have said-'I realize that kids do need alot of things for the 1st day of school, but you have 1 child, he is 10 years old and your wife doesn't work. You have all summer to get him ready!!' (FH spoke to him).

It was not really about the date but more what is happening that day. The Jets are playing the Giants and my uncle made a comment. 'Great day you picked!' I almost started crying. All I kept thinking was people were going to be trying to find a tv during my wedding to watch the game.
date twin - are you serious? oh no... please tell me it's a night game! i have too many football fans coming... i don't want any tvs at my reception!!

Sorry for crashing your board, I had the same thing happen with me during my planning from my groomsmen. Everyone found out the baseball game score and announced it at the wedding. I was alittle annoyed but didn't show it.
Ladies Its your day and who cares what others say about the date you choose. My own mother complained about having either a thursday, friday or sunday wedding)
Good luck ladies

plenty of times...I heard 'why did you choose to have your wedding on a Friday night when you know people work?' and I got the whole holiday thing. Well since I'm inviting 222 guests and only hope 150 come...feel free to send in the NO's.

Kelly,
Don't feel to upset about it my FH said that the Mets are playing the yankees on our wedding day. FH says that in between the times we are busy with pics he is going downstairs to the bar to catch the game.

Posted by MF9282 My FMIL asked if at our wedding we can sing happy birthday to her niece who will be turning 40 that day I said ABSOLUTELY NOT!
W T F is wrong w/ people no one has said my date was a problem, or they were wise enough NOT to let it get back to me

Nobody has said the Date is bad, but plenty have made comments about the DAY and TIME of the week...... Friday, at 6:30, on Long Island in July.......And most people are coming from outside Long Island. Can't blame them, I wouldn't look forward to that Rush hour - leave early for the weekend-beach traffic either!
But, those that matter are sucking it up and making the trip so that's all that counts. I don't think many people are NOT going to come just because of traffic, but, you never know!

The date hasn't been an issue for us. But my finaces family is from southern NJ and we are getting married on LI where i am from.....and i know alot of them have complained, even mentioned that they won't attend. So i can relate to your frustration....it's disappointing.

Not yet...
The REASON we pick days are dependent on MANY factors: vacation times, job switches, etc. There was a 2 week period in which we could have gotten married.
I do understand form the other point of view. I get out of work late (and at a non-predictable hour)...so a Friday wedding for me means working overnight & taking the next day off (imagine how desired a long weekend is)...it means planning WELL in advance.

My friend, but its ok with me!
She & her husband found out that they're pregnant, and the due date is right before our wedding.
My friend as well, actually 2 of them. Both were suppose to be bridesmaids, but I only asked one and the other dropped out because she is due 3 weeks after the wedding!

Our's is the day after Thanksgiving and I thought that we would only hear complaints both of our families loved the idea. I'm sure there are many others who haven't voiced their opinions to us.....yet

You know Joyce, you can't please everyone! If your wedding is not important enough for him then screw em'. I'm sure that there are plenty of people who love the both of you and can't wait until your day.

I don't mind a wedding on a holiday weekend because you still have an extra day to yourself when it's all over.
I once went to a Monday night wedding in NJ....going to work the next day wasn't fun but I CHOSE to go to the wedding & could've taken off of work if it was that big of a deal.
