have to cancel reception hall...

well, it turns out that i have to cancel my place because it only holds about 140-150 and we didn't realize how big the guest list was going to be. i have the following prospects;

the bayview house at captain bills
captain bills
danfords on the sound
giorgio's
john anthony's
lombardi's on the sounds
molly malones
sunset harbor
west sayville country club
bridgeview yaght club
cucina bay
sans souci

anyone with any info on any of these places would be awesome, or even some price quotes for june/july 06
thanks so much guys! this stinks, i thought i was done with searching.

I think Sans Souci will be too small if you need a room that holds over 150.

the bayview house at captain bills would be a great size for you. i'm having about 200 people (hopefully...maybe more like 215). Anyway i think you get the most for your money there. The food is awesome, you are the ONLY wedding all day (even on a saturday), it's on the bay, has gorgeous chandeliers and windows (not too much where it's tacky). I'm from Bay Shore and I've eaten there dozens of times and can definitely vouge for the food. I've also been to weddings there and it's great - i'm trying to fit an 8 piece band and that's my only worry since there's not too much room for that. They'll have to push back into a corner...oh well.

Anyway I visited many of the places on your list and captain bills has good prices, food, space, and ambience:) of course i'm somewhat partial;)

giorgios! My friend got married there and it was absolutely beautiful! I wish I lived out in Suffolk - it was too far :(

I was just at Danford's yesterday. I think it would be too small.

Molly Malone's seems to use their 2nd floor for weddings. I don't think it would be big enough, plus you have the restaurant and bar downstairs.

yeah molly malone's only holds 150max. giorgio's IS gorgeous with great food, but way out east (depends where you live) and you won't be the only wedding that day so you can't start it whenever you want. also if you guarantee enough people at captain bill's you can have the cocktail hour in the main restaurant (back function rooms) that have windows overlooking the water, plus people won't see the reception room beforehand. (if you have the cocktail hour on the deck where they usually do it, it's kind of small and everyone walks through the main reception area to get to it). i like the anticipation of walking into the reception for the first time!! definitely ask about it...

Giorgio's is awesome and can definitely fit your needs. I got my pricing back in Sept 04, so it won't be valid anymore. The pricing was for labor day weekend in Sept anyways.

Giorgio's can have up to 2 weddings per day there, one morning and one evening....unless you book a twilight wedding which means more per head but they will do it for you.

The place is gorgeous, the service and food impecable. I can't say enough nice things about it. Definitely check it out...I think the place sells itself!
