Have to change the church date. Anyone ever have to do this?
We have the church booked, but now many places are booked for our date. Is it really bad to change the church date in order to get the catering hall you want? Has anyone ever done this? I am afraid to ask my church without asking the ladies here first....lol!

Re: Has anyone ever changed their date after reserving the church?
I think if you are honest with the church and explain to them that many of the halls you are visiting are booked for the current date and you & your FI found a hall you really like and would like to switch the date. I wouldn't see why they would give you a hard time. I wouldn't lie to them and I think they would understand. The only problem I think would be that they might not have the date avaible at the church.

I don't think there's anything wrong with changing the church date at all!!

I am surprised your church even let you book without having a catering hall. That was our priests first question to us. 'Do you have the hall yet' I don't think there is anything wrong with changing the date though.

Your wedding is far enough away that you will not interrupt their schedule in any way.

We changed our date a few weeks after booking the church becuase of a time gap. Our church took no offense they understood, I think most will understand!

We changed our wedding date and since we booked now for 2005, there were no other weddings on that date.. they had no problem whatsoever... they didn't even question it

We booked our church first. Then found many halls were booked for that date, especially the one we had decided on. So we changed the date to 2 weeks later. it was no problem at all. Plus it gived us an extra paycheck for the wedding expenses.

The church shouldn't give you a problem. Just tell them you need to change - your date is so far in the future it doesn't matter. We actually tried to coordinate our church and hall - I checked the availability of several dates while I was looking.

I did that. We orginally reserved the church for 8/7 first. Then started looking for reception locations. Went to see Larkfield manor on a Fri and by the time I called the next day to say I wanted to book someone picked my date. They had 7/31, so we took that.
