The dress shop giving you your dress FIVE weeks before your wedding. I'm paying through the nose for alterations (almost as much as I did for the dress), and frankly when I went for the first fitting the lady was like you lost too much weight....I only lost 20 pounds and wanted to lose another 20. Anyway, I have to pick up my dress tomorrow night (they wanted me to pick it up last week). I'm afraid....what if I lose more weight (or gain ). Once I leave the store, they won't do any more alterations.....I feel like I spent enough, I should have another fitting closer to my wedding date. Am I crazy?

Re: Have you ever heard of....
Hmmm, sounds a little sketchy, IMO. You won't lose another 20 pounds, but you could lose another 10. I wouldn't let this go.
When I worked as a wedding dress saleswoman, I suggested brides START fittings 6 weeks before the wedding.

Re: Have you ever heard of....
My bridal salon doesn't want me to pick up my dress until 3-5 DAYS before the wedding because of last minute weight loss. I would have a serious conversation with them.

Re: Have you ever heard of....
Five weeks before the wedding seems a little strange, especially since so many brides I've known have lost a large amount of weight right before the big day. I'd talk to them about it and question it big time. Good luck and keep us posted!

Re: Have you ever heard of....
I had my first fitting 5 weeks before the wedding. My second one two weeks before. I picked my dress up three days before the wedding.

Re: Have you ever heard of....
I picked up my dress 2 days before the wedding. Can you insist on picking it up right before the wedding? There's a good chance your weight will change in those last 5 weeks.

I always heard last fitting was 2 weeks before so I would definitely question them.

Re: Have you ever heard of....
I started my fittings last week which was 5 weeks before the big day, and they said that I would have the last fitting about a week before my wedding date. I think you should call them and demand that they keep your dress and allow for a fitting right before the wedding date.
