Have you ever heard of such a thing???

I ordered my dress in early August. I just confirmed today that it came in, so I told them I'd like to make an appointment to come in, see the dress, make sure it's what I ordered, in the right size, not damaged, etc. The woman told me NO!!!
She said they won't let you see it because they want to keep it clean and the first time you see it is at your first fitting (so I promptly made an appointment for next week) and that you pay your balance before the fitting. How come I can't see my own dress - that I paid for????

Ok yes.. i have heard the payment in full is due at the first fitting.

No I have not heard of them not letting you see your dress at all. I demanded it to make sure there were no stains, loose beadwork, etc.

They didnt LIKE me trying it on (twice) but that didnt stop me. I heard all sorts of hell 'No makeup' 'no jewelry' whatever.. I dont wear makeup anyway so that was no biggie and I took off my jewelry before I put it on.

I took photos of me in it to motivate me to loose a few pounds hehe and so I wont go bother it anymore

I ordered my dress from Princess Bridals in Farmingdale. I am definitely going to look at it before I pay in full.

My dress had come in after two weeks of ordering... I was convinced it was wrong, so I just showed up at the store and asked them to show it to me. They weren't happy about it, but they did it.... I didn't really take it out of the box but I looked it over as best as I could... (it was the right dress!). I would just go and talk to a salesperson and ask to see it.

I've never heard of that...them not letting you check out your own gown! That's just stupid!!!

to keep it clean? you go to your fittings then they clean it after all the fittings are done....why cant they show it to you? its not like your going to make it dirty by looking at it

That's my plan - inspect first, pay second, fitting third. This just has me annoyed. Wish I'd done my homework before I bought.

That doesn't sound right to me at all. God forbid it's the wrong dress! I wouldn't take no for an answer. I went to visit my dress multiple times, never had a problem.

seriously, make sure its what you ordered before you give them any money.

You're the customer so you should be telling them what YOU want, not the other way around.

Definitely INSIST on seeing it before you pay another penny!!!

I could just be store policy not to show everyone their dress until they have appointments for fittings. I know I would visit my dress EVERYDAY if they would let me!!!!
