Have you ever reworn a bridesmaid dress?

Original post by bluegreen08

A friend of mine who was a bridesmaid in many weddings cautioned not to worry about picking a dress that will be rewearable, and to focus more on it being affordable.

She said my bridesmaids will happily wear whatever I want because it will make me happy, but it would be the exception to the rule if they ever found an occasion to wear the dress again (unless I picked a little black dress).

Have you ever reworn a bridesmaid dress? Alter a long gown to tea length, wear to a black tie event, halloween (ha!)?

When choosing your bridesmaid dresses, was re-wearability a consideration? To what extent?

i have never worn a dress out again if i was a bm because the color was scary and dress itself was scary as well.

I did black floor length dresses that the girls are going to get altered after the wedding to tea length - i am going to buy the green sashes back from them most likely and use it as table runners. So we did both inexpensive and wearable again.

I have been a BM in 4 weddings. I have re-worn 2 of the dresses.

One I was able to wear to a sorority formal and then again later to a fraternity formal (2 different schools). It was Navy Blue and off the shoulder empire waist with pleats by Watters & Watters.

The other one I wore to my best friend's wedding last weekend. It was a black dress empire waist with spaghettii straps from Thread.

If they had been sparkly dresses I don't think I could have re-worn them ... they were both simple & elegant dresses.

i have been in 5 weddings and never worn the dresses over - they were all beautiful but honestly, too dressy to wear to someone's wedding unless they were family and then they probably saw the dress already! lol

I have never worn it to another event but its nice enough to wear it else where, I would alter the length though its really long and I like them short

I have been a BM in 2 weddings and both dresses were beautiful. My dress for my brother's wedding I definitely could have worn again if I got it shortened like a cocktail dress, but I never did.

Never...not even that great lavendar one with puffy sleeves.

That's why i went with a dress from J. Crew. I actually have the same dress in navy blue and it's my staple for special occassions....I wear it all the time. So i just picked a black version for my girls...and hopefully, they'll wear it just as often!

Im one of those...I want to get a dress that they will be comfortable (not that silk dressy stuff) and that they can wear over and over...
just because i love my friends and, well, i would want that done for me lol

i've never worn any BM dresses again.... they were all some shade of pink, satin, and just too much for any other occasion i would go to. too bad i'm out of school, could have used them at sorority formals!!

I let my girls pick their own dresses - i just gave them a designer and color - so they picked what they wanted to wear and if it's re-wearable - i'm all the more happy!

I love the bridesmaid dress my friend picked out for her wedding... but I haven't had a chance to rewear it ... wish I could though.
