I wanted to do a poll to decide whether most 2011 brides have gone SERIOUS dress shopping yet. My sister wants me to start dress shopping but I think its a little early and I really don't want to go playing 'dress up.' What have you ladies been up to?

nope not yet; i did go to RK bridal during lunch one day and just browsed; didn't actually try anything on. I was talked into making an appt w/Davids Bridal at last Bridal Expo at the marriot. I made the appt for March b/c i knew i was ready to shop...but i think i'm going to keep it and just go try a few dresses on.
I haven't gone yet either and I made an appt w/ David's Bridal at the wedding expo too. I wanted to go in march but the told me I couldn't! I had to do it for Feb
Really?? I made the appt @ the uniondale marriot show. my appt is 3/10. I expressed to her that i wasn't ready to buy; so i wanted to wait until the absolute latest.

Haven't started yet - and is it strange that I am actually not looking forward to dress shopping?? Don't get me wrong - I love wedding gowns but I'm just really nervous thanks to the junk i have in my trunk (which is a lot).
I'm not a shopper when it comes to normal everyday clothes - im in the store and out in minutes and obvioulsy this is going to take some time.. arg
But I am going to start a year out - so this April/May

I started looking just to get a sense of what I liked and what looked good on me and my mom & I were really anxious to go (I've been engaged about a year now). But it's turned into serious dress shopping.... Not sure what to do tho since I want to lose a significant amount of weight, not just because of the wedding - although it's a great motivator!!

I haven't even tried any dresses on yet. This weekend is going to be my first time trying on dresses, and I don't think it's going to be serious dress shopping.

I am also going for the first time Saturday ! i was going to wait until like nine months but hubby said we should go i am a little bit nervous i have had my eye on a dress but its from 2008 im scared i'm going to hate dress shopping i didn't like prom shopping back in the day i liked to look on the computer though :) and also i have an A or apple shaped body which ever you prefer small tata and big ole thighs and butt and I'm only 4'11' so i am worried all the ones that i like are going to look like i am drowning in a sea of white or that i m going to look like a upside down lollipop

I've made appointments for my first time dress shopping for Feb 6th. I had some weight I wanted off before I started, I figured about a year out was good too. I'm really excited about it now though!!!

Yes I already got my dress!! I wasn't planning on getting anything till the summer time. I have gone to a few places to get ideas and tried on a bunch of different dresses.I was planning on waiting until the 2010 dresses came out but I don't think I will find anything i love as much as this one so I put a deposit down!!

I was originally getting married 5/1/2010 so that is why I already have mine. I did buy it 1.5 years before the first date though. You girls still have a lot of time. But I know its something that you want to do right away! I think I waited a week after I was engaged

Isn't there a site that you can find the dress? I'm sure you already tried. Some sites will create a dress from another designer.

I did an initial search to determine what styles I should be looking for. But I haven't gone for real yet. I want to do in the summer with my mom, MOH (sister) and my grandmother. That's going to be tough because I plan on keeping it a secret. Maybe spring break I'll try on some more...

Where are you going dress shopping Saturday? FMIL and my mom are going to Manhasset this weekend.
