We were having this discussion at dinner tonight with our family...i LOVE LOVE LOVE the names Gianna and Rhiannon (re AH nun) for girls. We have to name our first son Joseph because in my FH's family every man named Joseph names his first son Philip and every Philip names his first son Joseph.

I LOVE names!!! I have been buying baby book names since I've been like 16 lol....so it really bumms me out that FH tells me we have to name our first born son after his dad...I don't agree with doing and I don't think I should have to. That being said I have come up with a compromise...If it's a boy he gets to name him after his father...if Its a girl I get to pick whatever name I want and he gets no say I think it's fair we each have a 50/50 shot...we'll see! we aren't there yet but I love love love names! Girls i love, Madison, Victoria, Taylor,] isabel, for boys I love Christian, Tyler, Conner, hmmm I could keep going! I have them all written down!

i got my dog from a breeder in missouri (she was sent to me on a plane) even though i saw her pictures and had a name picked when i actually saw her for the first time the name i picked out didn't fit her, she DID NOT look like a Jade - so later that day i decided to name her Pumpkin instead....if i felt that strongly about a dogs name, i cant imagine my childs name....i wont be able to decide until i see their little face!

FH has a ton of girls names he loves. The only problem I see is that many end in an A and so does his last name. I feel like it sounds silly.
ooo that is sooo funny. Fh's last name ends in A as well. His last name is Florea
But all the names I love end in an A
like Julia, Sophia, Kayla ughh haha

I love the name Grace, but my sister named her daughter that this year so I can't use it ...
I like Madelyn, Carly, Maggie (not margaret), Jana, and Hayley .... he likes Maisie (the little girl in 'Uncle Buck' ... crazy I know) for a girl and also Hannah and Hayley. We both like Hunter, and I also like Dakota but he thinks that sounds too much like a dog's name I also like Reid, which is FH's middle name. Reed is nice too, not sure which spelling I like more
our first born will be lawrence thomas (the IV) Alexander Cole Jack Aiden Nicholas Jon (after my dad - John)

ya FH and i have talked about it. i made the mistake of telling a co-worker (at the time) of our choice of a girls name Lana. well guess what?!?! she got prego a few months later and named her daughter Alana. how efin original of her.
same with my cousin!!! my mothers name is dee and my mil is anna. so i wanted deanna. then i told my cousin and she got prego and named her little girl deanna.

My first girl will definitely be named Victoria. I also like the name Taylor.
For a boy, I had always loved Johnathan, but FH said no because it reminds him of Jonathan from Who's the Boss. Also, after meeting a few Johns over the years, I've decided that I'm not so set on that name.
Other boys names we've tossed around are Dylan and Brendon. I really want to name my boy Dylan, and have the middle name be McKay - so he'd be named after Dylan McKay from 90210. FH says it will be funny for 5 minutes, and then we'll regret doing that.

see....i have a little different of an approach...i'm making it KNOWN what my names are that i love that way if they steal them, i can call them out on it, and i would lol! But i would still name my kids that anyway haha.

I agree i think calling names is importnat. I know a bunch of my friends names already and sometimes i'll be like oh this one is cute an think about it and remember it's their name...so it's off limits! I have another friend who doesn't care what others do and is going to name her kid what she wants regardless...i think that's a good strategy!

yup we've discussed it! and have some picked out but i think you cant truely name your child untill you see them sometimes they just dont 'look' the name you picked out!
and FH wants a junior so i said fine as long as if we have a second boy it can be named after both of our fathers Dominic James (D.J) and he said ok so thats the deal!

Isabella Grace and Reilly Elizabeth and if it is a boy it will be a junior and then Nicholas George.
