Hey ladies...those of you who have gone...when did you book your excursions? When you got there? FH and I want to swim with the dolphins,, go parasailing, kayaking and a bunch of other things. There is a website called Hawaiiactive.com and they have a whole bunch of excursions that you can book ahead of time, should we do that? Need your advice.

Re: HAWAII EXCURSIONS question
We did a combination of both--some things we booked prior to getting there and others we did once we were there. If there are some things that you specifically want to do, then maybe you should book it ahead of time--this takes the stress out of booking it there and gives you a better picture of what your timeline will be once there.

Re: HAWAII EXCURSIONS question
What island are you going to?
I hate booking things ahead of time.. because my mood of what I want to do changes so much. I dont think there is ever a problem getting into an activity you may want to do, because there are so many companys that offer things. Again.. it may depend on the island and competition.
If its Maui.. they have a lot of vendors for everything.. I wouldnt worry to be honest.

Re: HAWAII EXCURSIONS question
We only booked the Old Lahaina Luau before we went, we didn't want to be too 'scheduled' before we got there.
Everything else we did we booked through the hotel's concierge.

It was very good. It was highly recommended as the best luau to attend so I figured we'd try it. There isn't fire involved and it sells out quickly so book soon!
I'd suggest the table/chair seating as opposed to traditional mat because it's tough sitting on the mat for a long time watching the show.

Thanks... right after this Post my Travel Agent called to confirm that she booked us for that Luau. Thanks for the advise too.

Re: HAWAII EXCURSIONS question
FH and I booked a bunch of things already through the ttravel agent, but like some othe girls said, we didn;t want to be too 'booked'. So we booked the things that we def. wanted to do...luau, flight to oahu and back (for a day trip), a snorkeling day trip, and the bike ride down the mtn/volcano. we spaced them out and we'll see how we feel ont he days in between for maybe surfing lessons and kayaking. we actually did book a helicopter ride, but after all of the bad press about the crashes, the travel agent cancelled it (and i am happy about that)!!! good luck

Re: HAWAII EXCURSIONS question
Luaus are so much fun, so you should definitely book that so that they don't sell out.
I would personally book the things that I really want to do and leave the rest and play it by ear when you get there.

Re: HAWAII EXCURSIONS question
when we go to oahu if we want to do a certain activity we book it right on the spot. There are so many excursions and activities at the desks there and you can choose what you want to do based on the mood your in right then and there
