Hawaii Help Needed!!! PLEASE HELP

We really need your help. Please post any Hawaii hotel recommendations. My fiance and I are clueless. We don't know what islands to go to, how to get there, what to do, etc. Any help would be great. Thanks

We are kind of in the same boat as you. We are thinking of going to Maui first then Kauai then Oahu. We are looking at the Grand Wailea in Maui but other than that no clue.

I would say to go to a travel agent to help you out with booking. Normally I do my trips all online through expedia and those websites, but for my HM, I wanted it to be more special and planned well. Luckily, FH's cousin took care of booking our trip for us - she works for Amex and I guess is involved in something with booking trips there.

We're going to Oahu, the Big Island and Maui. FH's brother went to Hawaii for his HM so he gave us recommendations on what islands to do. He said Maui is the most fun so to spend the most amount of days there. We're flying to each island, rather than doing a cruise. We're staying at the Outrigger in Oahu, and then the Marriotts on the Big Island and Maui. Usually, you can't go wrong with brand name hotel chains.

Also, I recommend getting the Frommer's Hawaii book. It tells you sooooo much about where to stay, eat, etc.

Good luck!

We are going to Hawaii also....we will actually be there the same week...We are only going to Maui. I looked into the Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons, Grand Wailea and Fairmont..We are leaning towards the Fairmont.

We stayed at the fairmont - it was fabulous! I have pics in my honeymoon album. Wailea is a very nice area to stay in in Maui.

We stayed at the Princeville in Kuaia and the Halekulani in Oahu. We LOVED the Halekulani, but would not really recommend the Princeville.

Gooc luck!

i usually read reviews from tripadvisor.com

i look at expedia & travelocity for price & distances to places i want to go to, then I get a list of hotels and look up reviews on tripadvisor..

so far...tripadvisor has not disappointed..........GL

I am not so hot on Grand Wailea....really feels like a waterpark with lots of loud kiddies.
Four Seasons is sooooooo pretty!

I was just in Hawaii in February. I LOVE it and want to live there. Each of the islands is totally different from each other. I was on Oahu (the most populated) and Kuaii (the oldest... can't figure out how to spell it!). Anyway, the Hilton Hawaiian Village at Waikiki beach was great. Its not actually at waikiki, its near by but its great. To be honest, I didn't like waikiki anyway. It was as crowded as the Jersey Shore. The hilton has a better beach and there is so much to do there. I didn't actually stay at the hilton, I was staying with a friend, but we used their beach and I took surf lessons there. They have a lot of shops and restaurants. I just like it cause its not just a hotel and a beach and thats it.
On Oahu, I surfed, snuck onto the set of lost (seriously!), went to Pearl Harbor, snorkled, went to dinner in China town, hiked and whale watched... can't think what else but there was tons to do.
Kuaii is a great place to go also. I only went for two days but I think thats all you need. I did a zip line tour there (which was okay) and a helicopter ride (awesome views!). Its a lot more adventure sport than Oahu and the beaches are even nicer. The night life on Kuaii ****** though.
Forgot to mention, Oahu has terrible traffic. Rent a car wherever you go, you'll need one if you want to leave the hotel.

We just came back form Hawaii and we stayed at the Hyatt on all three islands (Oahu, Maui and Kauai). Each one was more beautiful than the last!! You also get a discount and the free breakfast buffet if you go to more than one island and stay in Hawaii for more than 5 days. We used Christina from Ship to Shore Travel-she was awesome!!!
