Hawaii HM advice

Hawaii HM advice

I need some honeymoon advice.
We're planning to go the Hawaii for a total of 10-11 days. We're planning to do Kauai, Maui and Big Island (in this order).
First question: What hotel in Maui would you recommend Royal Lahaina or Kaanapali
Beach Club?
Second question: We're planning to do 3 nights in each island, but all the reviews here are raving about Maui and saying how it’s so beautiful and exciting that 3 nights might not be enough. So I'm thinking to cut the Big Island short and do only two nights and that way we can stay 4 nights in Maui. Any thoughts? Experiences?

Three islands in 10 days is a lot. It might feel more hectic then relaxing. Most people recommend doing two.

Kaanapali is a great area of Maui.

Been to Hawaii many times. Maui is the best island, hands down. It has the best beaches and the perfect combination of quiet Hawaii and things to do.

We are going to The Big Island for 4 nights and Maui for 5 on our honeymoon.

We are going to Oahu, Kauai, and Maui in that order for 17 days (it's a lot but FH insisted). We are staying Wailea in Maui so I don't know much about the hotels in Kannappali. I think that 3 islands in 10 days might be a lot, you have to remember that you will loose time traveling even though the flights are short. I think you are right about Maui I have heard the same things and we are staying there the longest.

17 days is not a lot. We did the same trip you are doing for your HM last October and were there for 18 and we both felt like it was too short!

We're going back for the HM and are going for 24 days!!!! Can't wait.

Wow 24 days, nice!!! I felt like it was a lot but FH said we would be losing almost 2 whole days to travel so he wanted to make it longer than just 2 weeks. I am really excited I was just nervous that it was a little long. I can't wait to go!!! Which hotels did you stay at when you went? We are staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Oahu, Hyatt in Kauai and the Four Seasons in Maui.

We're staying at the same ones we did last time (loved them so much it didn't make sense to look for others).

The Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach (FH absolutely loves the bar there - Dukes. You have to go for drinks - it's a Waikiki Beach tradition).

The Grand Hyatt on Kauai - it may be my favorite hotel in the world! Words cannot describe it. Oh and if you can, get a treatment at the spa - expensive but incredible. Also, one of the restaurants there (Tidepools) had the best surf and turf dinner I've ever had!

On Maui we're staying at the Hyatt Regency in Kaanapali. We did check out the Four Seasons when we were there last time (we went for lunch one day). We loved it, but we both really liked going into Lahaina every day so it just made more sense to stay at the Hyatt.

You will absolutely love it - and FH is right - it's a long flight so you'll lose 2 days and then the jet lag will set in. Also, because of the post 9/11 security, you lose a lot of time for the inter-island flights.

Don't be nervous about it being long - I was too last year and it honestly wasn't enough time!

BUMP please.
OK we just spoke with our travel agent about some changes we wanted to make. We deff decided to add two more nights. It just seems like there's so much to do and it is our honeymoon so we'll splurge a lil.
We're staying 4 nights in Kauai (Marriot), 5 nights in Maui (Royal Lahaina) and 2 nights in Big Island (Hilton).
We have breakfast included in Kauai and Maui
We're upgrading to convertibles on all islands in Kauai and Maui.
All in all it came up to 7000. So do you think it’s a good deal or should we shop around some more? Would you recommend changing?

we are doing 10 days in maui and kuaui...6 nights maui and 4 nights kuaui my Travel agent said you can take a short flight for a day trip to the big island so thats what we will do instead of staying a couple of days...the hotels we are staying at are the Fairmont Maui and the Hyatt in kuaui. I think you made a great choice to stay an extra 2 days especially if you going to the big island!

We were going 5 on the Big Island and 4 on Maui and switched it. Maui really is the best island.

We had the same dilemma, couldn't chose between the Big Island and Oahu, but our travel agent said that Oahu is basically a glorified Miami Beach. It's very touristy and more like a city than a beach vacation. I'm not dissing it of course If I could squeeze it in I would. But you need to decide what's more important to you. FH is a photographer so we want a more scenic vacation... Big Island has the Black Sand Beaches, which is something we won't see anywhere else and the volcanoes. We decided to stay and not fly in for just one day because the hotel is pretty nice and we can use the last 3 days to just hang out and basically do nothing by the pool or beach. Reading the other posts and recommendations I just had to add 2 more nights to Maui it seems like the best island to go to and that’s what our travel agent said as well. That Maui is a must because it has a bit of everything.
HTH and let me know if you want the info of my travel agent he's a decent guy and he specializes in Hawaii (like seriously he knows everything, prepare for a 3 hour lecture), got his name of gohawaii.com

That's a really good price. You won't be sorry you added the extra nights.

You are going to love the Hyatts! Make sure you let them know you're on your HM - you'll get free stuff. I can't wait to go back! I can't stay enough about those hotels.

New dilemma,
Sheraton or Marriott in Kauai? Both of them got great reviews and look really nice... Don't know which one to choose. Any experiences at either?
