Hawaii Honeymoon - how long?
hi ladies! we really want to go to Hawaii but of course, our budget is pretty tight. What do you think about spending 8 days in either maui or oahu? (more likely maui) and not seeing any of the other islands? we want a nice mix of seeing the sights and relaxing on the beach. it just seems that everyone island hops...

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon - how long?
Just a suggestion but, Say you go to Oahu and stay in Waikiki for a few days and then go to the north side of the island, which is more quiet, for another few days.

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon - how long?
Have you looked into a Hawaiian cruise? We're doing an 11 night cruise to Hawaii and it's costing a lot less $$ than doing it by land. I think we're hitting 5 islands.Best of Luck!!

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon - how long?
I think Maui definitely.... You could enjoy it for 8 days.... skip Oahu and Kawaii might be a little far... Stay in Maui... Perhaps Big Island

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon - how long?
Another Hawaiian honeymooner here ... We just got back on Sat so here are my fresh impressions of the gorgeous islands (BTW ... full review to follow w/ pics soon!)We spent 2 weeks & saw 3 islands. Kauaii, Big Island, Mauii. My fav? Kauaii by far. It had the perfect blend ... there was plenty to do, but we also had plenty of time for the gorgeous pools (every hotel was beautiful) and relaxing. It was a short 20 min flight from Honolulu, so the trip over was reasonable. We stayed 5 nights, and I was so sad to leave. Nothing else compared along the way!
JMO, girls ... also it was Christmas & New Years, so things were a little crazy on Mauii w/ a lot of college kids & crowded pools, which I didn't really appreciate.
I would recommend that you get the Frommer's book ... Hawaii for Dummies. Someone else recommended it a while back & thank God we got it b/f we left. It was so great. I was kicking myself that we didn't have it b/f we planned.
Take your time, read up & ask plenty of questions. With such little time, you want to be in the right place for your needs & wants. But don't overlook the garden isle
... it's someplace you'll never want to leave! Good luck ...
FM me if you have any more questions!

I am going to Vegas and Hawaii on my honeymoon. I will be in Vegas for 2 days and then Maui for 7. I think its enough time, of course I would love to stay longer but I am also on a tight budget.

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon - how long?
If you are only going to do 8 days in Hawaii, I would recommed staying on just on island. Between Oahu and Maui - I would say definitely Maui. If you can go to 2 islands - go to Kauai. It is gorgeous and so peaceful!!!!

I Agree!!! I've been to hawaii before and Oahu is nothing great... I didn't care for it. I fell in love with Kauai though!!! It's so peaceful. I would suggest Maui too! Havent been but a honeymooner friend of mine did, and loved it. I hope to be a Hawaii honeymooner myself! Maui and Kauai here i come!!!

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon - how long?
We are going to Kauai & Maui one week at each Island. It's different for everyone I guess...My main things was I didn't want to be packing and unpacking to much so we picked 2 islands. One that is supposed to be more relaxing and one with more of a night life. I can't wait! Only 9 more months
