Re: hawaii hotels
I stayed at the Resortquest Waikiki Beach Hotel in Wakiki, Ohau. It's moreso just beach. Diamond head is a mile down the road (literally) and Germaine's Luau in Honolulu. And Pearl Harbor also!! I'd make that your last stop, for like 3 or 4 days...

That's exactly what we're doing on the HM... staying at the Hyatt in Kauii and the Hyatt in Maui and we get the free buffet breakfast. I heard the one in Kaui is beautiful!

Re: hawaii hotels
The Grand Hyatt and The Princeville are the nicest on Kauai. We stayed near the Grand Hyatt for a few nights at a timeshare and then we spent a night at the Princeville. I liked the look of the Princeville better but, I'd recommend the Grand Hyatt because it's on the less rainy side of the island.
In Maui, we stayed at the Westin and loved it, it was right in Kanapali beach, a few hotels down from the Hyatt which looked beautiful as well. I liked Kanapali a lot, there is a path between the hotels and the beach and it was great to walk on, there's also a great shopping center.
In Oahu, we spent one night at the Royal Hawaiian and the last 2 nights of our trip at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider. They were both nice hotels.
There is an offer through the Hyatt where if you stay at more than one, you can get free breakfast. It's worth looking into because breakfast can get $$!

Re: hawaii hotels
We stayed at the Hyatt on Maui. We loved it, but some people don't like resorts.
other recommendations for Maui: Sheraton Grand Wailea Four Seasons Fairmont
be sure to check out tripadvisor.com for a ton of user reviews on every hotel on the islands.
