Hawaii - Hotels on Maui and the Big Island

My Fi and I are thinking about going to Hawaii on our honeymoon. I have been doing some research and I would like to know if anyone can recommend hotels to stay at on the island of Maui and the Big Island. Based upon the research we have done so far, we have a list of some of the hotels we are considering On Maui - the Kaanapali Beach Hotel, Royal Lahaina, the Outrigger Wailea Resort or the Grand Wailea Resort; On the Big Island - the Outrigger Kanaloa at Kona. If anyone has any info on these hotels or any other help to offer we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for all your help ladies and happy planning.

Hawaii - Hotels on Maui and the Big Island

We stayed at two absolutely fantastic hotels - the Grand Wailea on Maui and the Four Seasons on Hawaii - both were absolutely spectacular...you can't go wrong!

Hawaii - Hotels on Maui and the Big Island

Thanks Lee for your response. Which island did you go to first? What did you do on the islands? We want to be able to unwind and relax for a few days, which island would you suggest to go to first to do this? What research or resources did you rely on to book your trip? If you don''t mind, can you give me a rough estimate of what your honeymoon cost. You can e-mail me privately at [email protected] if you would like. I need as much info as possible, thank you for your advice.

Hawaii - Hotels on Maui and the Big Island

We stayed at the Sheraton on Kaanapali Beach on Maui. It was wonderful! If you like to go in the ocean and snorkel, I highly recommend it! They often have deals through travel agents. We were redeeming miles, so we got everyother night free (the room was almost 500/night). On the Big Island, we stayed at Chalet Kiluea in Volcano. It is a bed and breakfast, and it is very nice. Not pricey either. I don't know if you were set on spending your big island time at the beach, but we loved Volcanos National Park. Even if you don't go there, I highly recommend Blue Hawaii Helicopter's Circle of Fire tour! You will see the volcano in action!

Hawaii - Hotels on Maui and the Big Island

Thank you for your response. What room did you stay in at the Sheraton? Are there 'less' expensive rooms such as with a view of the garden rather than the ocean? I think what we are having a hard time deciding between is whether to spend the extra money on a nice hotel or stay at a less expensive hotel and use the extra money for something else (ie: flying first class). Did you use a lot of the hotel amenities? How was the beach, can you swim there or do you need to travel to go to the beach? Thank you again for all your help.

Hawaii - Hotels on Maui and the Big Island

We stayed in the Westin, Ka'anapali Beach in Maui on our honeymoon this past June. We absolutely loved it. The pool, food, room, people were absolutely amazing and you are so close to the main towns (Lahina). There is a shopping village right next door and many nice restaurants along the beach. Good luck and Congratulations!!

Hawaii - Sheraton Maui

The only place you can really swim on Kaanapali Beach is at the Sheraton. The snorkeling is awesome around black rock (the best we experienced in Hawaii). I really liked the hotel, but everything is an extra charge ($10 resort fee/day for safe, self parking and lei greeting, we paid the $5/day for valet parking). We decided against first class so that we can spend whatever we wanted when we got there (and we did)! There are less expensive rooms. They jack up the prices because they have so many deals. I would definitely visit a travel agent. Try not to pay full price. I also like Kaanapali beach because it is close to Lahaina. We went to the Old Lahaina Luau which is wonderful (make reservations in advance) and we had a couple other dinners in Lahaina (Windjammer Dinner Cruise and PacificOs). I would stay at the Sheraton again if I went back. Maui is spectacular! I can't imagine anyone not having a good time there! We loved the Big Island too! That was my favorite because of the volcano!

Hawaii

We just went there is February, and I DREADED coming home. We also stayed in Ka'anapali Beach (Embassy Suites) and I loved every minute of it, we were close to Lahaina. We also went to Kaui and stayed at the Princeville Resort, although beautiful ..very snooty

Old Lahaina Luau-Reservations

I don't know. I thought that I was supposed to reserve this when we book the trip. Is that too early? I'd rather have the reservation than not. Thanks for everyone's help, everyone has been great and the advise has been extremely helpful. Happy planning.
