Headpiece and veil question

Headpiece and veil question

Is anyone leaving their veil on the whole night? Or have any of the newlyweds done this at their wedding already? I was planning on doing that all along, I have one of the veils that comes off the back of the headpiece, not over the top of my head. Now I am wondering if it will be comfortable and it seems like a lot of people have detachable veils. Any thoughts?

For a different approach, we are ordering our thank you's with our picture printed on them from our photographer. They will be black and white with certain touches hand colored. They look something like Kim Anderson's greeting cards (just with our pic instead of children!), and I think they are beautiful.

Headpiece and veil question

I've heard stories about guests accidentally tugging on the bride's veil as they give her a hug. I ordered a detachable veil just so I have a choice in the matter. I haven't decided whether or not to use the veil all night but if I decide not to at least I know I can remove the veil. Just make sure that your hairdressser shows your bridesmaids how to remove the veil without ruining your hair-do.

We looked at 5 photographers and basic packages with some enlargements and an album ran $1800-$2300. Parents albums added approx. $300 each to the cost - that seemed to be the going rate - # of pics included in the albums varied. Most photographers in that range were promising between 250 and 450 proofs. I considered all of the to have 'decent' work, in fact, it was very nice. Some more artistic than others, often varying among a studio, depending on the photographer.

Then you could jump to the next level, where you got a lot more proofs, more pages in the album, sometimes a second photographer or the principle photographer at the studio, parents albums included, and enlargements. These tended to be (but were not always) the photographers selling themselves as being more artistic photojournalists. The photos I saw on line or in magazines (obviously their top work) looked great, but they were out of our budget so I didn't meet with any to see a full portfolio.

Headpiece and veil question

I ordered my veil to be detachable. I think it is more comfortable that way, well at least for me it will. Whatever way you feel most comfortable with, go ahead and do. The place where I got mine charged me about $25-30 to make it detachable, and I think it will be well worth it. Good Luck.

You're right Heather - they are pricy but I think it depends on how may band members, as well as the day and time. I was told they started around $6,000 and I could knock 20% off for a Friday night or Sat. afternoon in April - although those prices were quoted about 6 months ago.

Headpiece and veil question

My veil is cathedral length and all lace. If it doesn't bustle well, like the bridal shop offered to do, then I will be taking it off for the reception and using it as a shawl after. It is a single layer, no headpiece.

The dress shopping begins this weekend!!

Headpiece and veil -Thanks

Thanks everyone for responding. I think I am going to stay with my original choice to keep it on. My main concern was that with all the hugging and such it will get pulled off but I guess between that and a bustle you're just more careful than usual. My fiance likes to spin me when we dance and I told him we should probably practice with the veil on.

It is a shame considering I have yet to book a photographer, and what he did completely turned me off.
