healthy food and recipes

Original post by Espo22

Ok futuremrsmultari just gave me a great idea. Since alot of people are trying to get in shape at the moment thought i'd do this. Didn't want to put it in the other thread since we'll be posting there alot about workouts and it will be easier to look up ideas for healthy food in a different thread. I know one problem is alot of people say they run out of ideas or don't know what healthy food they can eat and actually like, so lets all exchange ideas.

Also snacks and all that of course.

My first tip is eating oranges as a snack, it fills you up and holds you over until your next meal.

Lots of tuna, but i use mustard instead of mayo.

Eggwhites alone or eggwhites, turkey bacon, low fat swiss on a whole wheat wrap or i have that on whole wheat bread

Chicken fajitas on whole wheat pita bread, grilled chicken, green peppers, red onions, squeeze some lemon juice

Cook with just EVOO...and to add flavor i always add lemons and pepper, alot of times add red onions and green peppers and cant forget garlic...with these ingredients i add flavor to otherwise bland food and helps out.

Futuremrsmultari-i was gonna post your recipe but thought i'd let you post it yourself since it is yours lol

This is a recipe I make that is yummy and healthy, it's called dump chicken (courtesy of my ex college roommate)

4 boneless skinless chicken breast
basil & oregano
1 can diced italian flavored tomatos
1 can olives (drained)

preheat oven to 350, sprinkle basil & oregano on chicken breast, place in pyrex, dump diced tomatoes & olives on top bake for 30-40 minutes, I haven't made it in awhile and I forgot the time but it depends on the thickness of the chicken breast.

I also suggest the 'Entree Salads' by Hillshire Farm. It's a container that comes with smoked turkey breast, smoked ham, cheese, croutons, and dressing all you have to do is add the lettuce. It's great to take to work or school for lunch. I also suggest to eat baked or grilled meat with the skin off. I have all this advice but I never follow it.

my job provides the lunch for us, so in the morning i just tell the chef what i want for lunch, but its good to remember for weekend mornings or lunchtime.

Yeah i only eat chicken cutlets, i dont really eat steak, pork chops here and there, turkey cutlets

weight watchers yougurt is the best
it tastes great and
1. it has less sugar than most other yogurts
2. it has 3 grams of fiber - most other yogurts have NONE

i also eat a lot of grapefruits - half with breakfast and half with lunch - fills u up

yes i agree!! i have all the weight watchers products!! lol you name it i have it..bread yogurt, english muffins, those chocolate brownie things (love them)!! i love that stuff! and very healthy for you too!

yes, in terms of bread, which i dont eat a lot of
the WW products are the BEST
english muffins have like 9 grams of fiber
bagels have 12 and the rye bread has like 6 which makes it sooo much healthier than other breads

I also like organic food...Their eggs are even better, you dont have to add salt or anything its a much better taste.

They have these chicken cold cuts, looks just like turkey and they are delicious

They have good sauce too and you can get the whole wheat pasta for when you crave pasta, and cook it with EVOO and i like to add grilled shrimp to it.

Re: healthy food and recipes

well, as long as u eat veggies, they are healthier than fruit
many fruits are mostly water or have a lot of sugar, even though its natural sugar, it adds up

My doctor told me not to eat any banana or melons. That I should eat all berrys, apples, orange, peach, pears and grapfruit.

Morning Star Farms Vegan Griller (it's a veggie burger) on the Foreman. I put it on a light hamburger bun w/ sliced tomato and vidalia onion, 1 slice kraft 2% singles, low sugar heinz ketchup and dijonaisse mayo. SO good!! Tastes like a giant real hamburger. If you are doing WW, it's only 3pts for the whole thing.

Re: healthy food and recipes

Also, most days I have the South Beach Diet wraps for lunch. It's 2 whole wheat wraps, a packet of chicken and (for the southwest one,) FF shredded cheddar and salsa, plus a FF/SF jello. The whole thing is 5 points. I keep them in the fridge, grab a box in the morning and go.
