Heavy dresses?

Heavy dresses?

I've tried on some beautiful gowns, but am concerned about how heavy some of them are.

I am drawn to the more princess-type gowns out there, but am a little concerned about the dress width and weight factor. Did anyone regret the size or weigth of the dress they chose?

TIA ladies !!! :) I really appreciate the advice

my dress was a reg A line dress, However, the material was VERY Heavy...I got married in the summer and I thought I was going to be miserable...but it was actually very managable...If you find the dress you LOVE get it...heavy or not.

Re: Heavy dresses?

I had a huge ballroom princess style dress and had no problem moving on the dance floor. I definetly do no regret my dress choice. It was organza instead of satin which helped with the weight problem, but I had layers and layers underneath. Good Luck!!

My dress was a princess cut satin dress which during the fittings I thought felt really heavy and I thought I would be so uncomfortable but after havign it on for a little while the day of it was managable.

I have back problems so I can't have a heavy dress. I am only looking at organza and light materials...I can't have those big satin dresses.

My dress is a full A-line dress, I went with organza because I couldn't stand the very heavy satin, plus it wasn't as HOT!

Re: Heavy dresses?

I agree... A-Line is a lot lighter... although satin after a while does get heavy-- but its all part of the glory of being a bride!!

My dress is a ballroom gown, and has a lot of weight from all the work on the gown. I was nervous at first b/c I am tiny, but everytime I put it on, I forget that there is weight to it. I think when you love a dress, it doesn't matter!!!!

I tried on one that looked great, but it was too heavy and was really uncomfortable. I opted for another dress.

If you wear a heavy ballgown you might actually lose some weight during the reception and you'll be thinner for the honeymoon

I also did not realize how heavy ballroom gowns are until i tryed them on. Mine is a satin ballroom gown but im willing to deal with it b/c i love it so much. Suffer to be beautiful!

I was in the same boat. FH and I even argued about this issue. He said that if my dress is too long/fluffy that I will not be able to salsa all night with him. He even suggested me buying a 2nd dress!!!! I said flat out NO! If I'm spending good $$$$ on a dress, I'm wearing it ALL night!!!

Once the storm was over, I explained that my dress will be bustled. 2nd, the reception is only 4hrs of which not all of it is dancing. He can get his all night dancing a different night. Don't get me wrong, I will dance, it just won't be our typical salsa dancing. He'll get over it.
