dont feel obligated to use their recommended vendors! i woud recommend any of my vendors, you can check them out in my review (the link is in my profile). i suggest searching the boards for reviews, rants, and raves about any vendors you are interested in and then start meeting with the ones that look the best. you will get the most accurate quotes from the vendors themselves because everyone gets different packages. if you want to get a price range before you meet with them (bc it stinks to get there, love their work, and then realize its waaaay outta your price range) is to call first and ask for a general price range for packages. good luck!

Entertainment Tonite is the best. My family has been using them for years now. Guy the MC gets everybody on the dance floor.

Re: HELLLLLLLLLLLP
DO NOT USE Creative Compositions!!
My sister saw pictures in an album at a venue that she loved, and the book was produced by Creative Compositions. So she booked them immediately. $5000. Then we get the photographer at the wedding, day of, and what a SCHMUCK! He kept directing her and her husband to get in these pornographic poses, and telling her to pull her skirt up for the pictures. Then he actually said 'LET'S SEX MOM UP' about my MOTHER - who was so embarassed! She literally almost became a Nun before she met my Dad!
Anyways, as it turns out it was not the photographer she had asked for. After blatantly telling those people she wanted the man who shot the album, they pulled a switcheroo and gave her his assistant.
Oh, and to top it off. She got married over 2 years ago and still no album. One of the pictures she chose was in poor resolution and won't pront properly now. It's partially our fault for not getting over to the shop to find another picture or decide whether or not it should be black&white, however if the work wasn't sop shotty we wouldn't be in this position anyways.
Don't book them!

Re: HELLLLLLLLLLLP
Welcome to the party! I have to say that the ladies here on LIWeddings (i'm sure there are other guys out there, but I think I'm the only one actively around) are extremely helpful, and can guide you on your needs.
One bit of advice from someone who's been racing around trying to book things- you have some time; don't stress too much. MY FW and I, from proposal to wedding day, have less than 11 months. I know it feels overwhelming, but getting stuff locked up now is great as you have a few months still before things get really crazy.
Flowers- we're going with Elegant Events from James Cress. We're using them in part b/c they are mandated as one of the choices from our hall, but Richie's been a really great person to work with.
DJ- we're actually going to have one of the guys from the klezmer band take over the djing duties using ipod playlists. On the one hand, I'm psyched about this because it ensures the only songs played will be ones we want to hear. On the other hand, I don't know about his djing experience and hope this isn't a mistake.
photo- we're going with a new york city photographer who's not a preferred vendor, but his stuff looks great and his price is ridiculous. and for video we're probably going with Rambling Rose. TimeXposures also seems to have a really great package for combined photo/video and I love gettinhutched's e-pic set from them.
hth, and welcome!

I'm a newbie and I'm in serious need of help. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a florist, photographer, or dj for my 2008 wedding. Some of the vendors that are recommended by my RH are
Florists: Flowers by Brian Pedestals Stefans
DJ Entertainment Tonite Starlight Express Big Hits
Photographers Deja Vu Pro-Line Studios Sherwood Triart Creative Compositions
* I've also heard great things about Tommy's Tunes, Patken, FM Entertainment so any reviews or suggestions are welcomed. I was also wondering if any of you ladies have quotes from DJ's/ Photographers/ and Florists because again I'm new at this and I want to see what I'm up against. Thanks so much for all your help!

Re: HELLLLLLLLLLLP
as far as the photo goes Sherwood does AMAZING work but they are on the expensive end of the photo vendors. If you have a large budget for photo/video I would recommend going with Franklin Square photography instead. Same quality, experience and professionalism, very friendly competent people and you get A LOT more for your money.
They are both priced around the same but FS Photo's package just has more stuff.

Re: HELLLLLLLLLLLP
For photography, look into Perceptions in Massapequa (a LIW vendor, too).
They did my brother's wedding and will also be shooting mine. Their work is amazing!
samples of his pics from my wedding can be found on my review

Re: HELLLLLLLLLLLP
Florist: Signature Florist
DJ- High Voltage Sounds (Vinny)
Photographer- Bill Minnick (he is no longer doing weddings)
I recommend all of my vendors wholeheartedly. If you want more info, feel free to browse my review. I was pretty thorough.
Also, my sister used Flower Michele and Patken. Both did a good job for her wedding.
MY SIL used Party Sensations for flowers. I DO NOT recommend them. They gave her nothing but headaches and messed up her bouquet the day of the wedding.
