I know I haven't been on in a while but things have been kind of hectic. Anyway, I need some advice. There is a woman I did a hair trial with and she was actually the only trial I had done. She did a good job but I wasn't crazy about how she styled my hair, but I figured she was good enough that we could keep trying until I found my wedding day look. I didn't have the money that day to give her a deposit so I told her I would mail it. Let's just say that it took me 2 weeks to mail that check. That's how busy I've been. I told her I would mail it this past Thurs. and the check didn't get mailed until Sunday night. Now the check is in the mail but she left me a message on my answering machine that made me really angry and now I don't know if I want to go with her. She said, ' I've never had this happen, you better get that check to me by the end of today no matter what you have to do.' I did not sign any contracts with her yet and I can still call the bank to cancel the check. I thought her attitude and her comment was not only disrespectful but I felt it was unprofessional and it made me upset. What should I do? Should I cancel the check with the bank and look for someone else? Or give her the benefit of the doubt since it took me so long to mail the check (which was not my intention.) It's not like she lives close to me and I could drop it off. What would you do?

Re: HELP!!!!
I think I'd go elsewhere.
I can understand reminding you that she needs the check and explaining that in order to keep the date you have to give the deposit. However, it sounds like she was downright nasty. If you weren't that crazy about her anyway just move on.
But that's just me.

Re: HELP!!!!
CANCEL THE CHECK.
You do not need any awkwardness the day of. especially if you didn't LOVE her work.
And when she gets your check in the mail, she is in for a surprise. That is SOOOO rude to say to a client!!!!!!!!!!

Re: HELP!!!!
If that was her first way of reminding you, then I'd cancel the check (notify her first so there's no fees) but if she's been on yourcase and you haven't sent it then she's looking at it from a business side and she needs to know if shell be making business with you or find someone else.

The first two messages she left me were in a nice way. We did speak a couple times, but life just happens and we don't always get to do what we need to get done. Even so, if that were me running a business, I would have said,' I can't hold the date unless you send the deposit. So if someone else books I'm going to have to say sorry' and would have left the ball in the bride's court. I just felt it was very unprofessional. But that is the only reason why I thought about giving her the benefit of the doubt.

Re: HELP!!!!
yea id cancel unless she said to you i need $$ to reserve the date and i have another prospective client for that day...so get it to me asap....I mean even then you'd think shed call and say 'hey i have another prospective client for your date but i know i did your trial first so i will hold it for you if get the check out by this wknd' or something.....i mean you have no obligation to book with her and any comments making it seem like that are just out of line! I would go elsewhere, thats unprofessional
