Sylvie is now 12 weeks and is having these biting fits. She will get into these frequent moods where she wants to do is bite- your clothes, hands, toes- mouth if you ask for a kiss. When verbally scolded in a very deep growl like voice, she gets more excited and continues the biting. Finally we put her in her 'area' in the kitchen and she stops and just sits there staring. after leaving the room and walking away, she will calm down. As soon as you come back in the room she wants to come out to play, and we will let her out. She is calm at first and then after a few minutes she starts the biting again! We are at a loss here- we have sprayed bitter apple on things, but we can't bathe in it! Any advice?

Re: Help- biting fits . . .
I am having the same problem with Missy. She is a little devil. the more you try to correct her the more she wants to bite. I definitely say that she hates the bitter apple although it does not stop her from biting us. and it hurts like hell. Nothing we were doing made her stop.
anyway, we resorted to a trainer. tomorrow is our second session. it seemed like the first session helped a little but all of a sudden she is acting up again.
I hope this training this works although the trainer says it will, i guess only time will tell.

she's teething and they do outgrow it. you need to be firm and say no! then give her a chew toy. make sure to replace anything that isn't chewable with her toy. but the fun part is when you find a baby tooth here or there. i saved charlottes. also, give her hard crunchy bones to gnaw on. it'll get better, i swear. but for a couple of weeks, i had red marks all over me!

Absolutely right... the dog is just teething. Also good for teething, freeze celery and baby carrots and give them as treats. They help numb the gums.

yep - teething is the WORST!!! Golem was really bad during his teething stage - we used to cover our hands, arms, clothes in Bitter Apple and eventually he got the picture but it was honestly SO ANNOYING!!! We also found that soaking an old washcloth, twisting it, then freezing it worked really well for him. Taht used to keep him occupied for a while when he was teething. We also did a lot of corrections, to the point where I was hearing 'NO BITE' in my sleep!! Stay strong!!! It's just a phase that will thankfully pass!
