My mother ordered a black dress- (with my blessing.) It was STUNNING and she looked like she should be on a runway!!!! I said okay- my girls will be in black and I'll put both the mom's in black and I'll be the only one wearing WHITE!!!!

Black is the most flattering color there is and if she feels great in it and you think she looks great in it, screw what everyone else may think. It's your day and if you don't have a problem with it, do it!
My FMIL wore a very dark blue dress (almost black) for my FSIL's wedding. And she looked amazing!

She just hasn't found it yet.
but that is her requirements.

Thanks for your opinions girls, from both of us- both my mom and I are following this!
She had nightmares all last night- woke up today and started researching all sorts of things all which said MOB's should NOT wear black.
To that I say, 'fooey!'
My FH and I are rule breakers, non traditional and out of the box thinkers anyway!

haha I think it is fine. I think I would be a little upset if my FMIL wore black. Only because it is considered a color of mourning. But even then I would probably make a joke of it.
My aunt had an entirely black and white wedding so everyone was in black
