Hello everyone! I'm new to the site and just started planning our 2012 wedding. I need help finding a venue within our budget and that would match what we're looking for. Our families will be coming from the Bronx, Westchester, Queens and NJ and we want to make it as centralized as possible but it's so expensive and we're on a budget!! So far we both like places near the water or with water views, fountains, gardens, etc.. We liked the pictures for The Riverview in Hastings-on-Hudson and just about any other venues with water views, gardens, etc in both LI and Westchester. That's not a deal breaker but it's something we would love to have. Our wedding will be 85-100 guests. We're really trying to keep a 10K budget for everything and would ideally have it in May, June or September 2012. I really don't want July or August because I'm afraid we'll have another crazy heatwave like last summer. My FH wants us to be married already, the sooner, the better, so he's not too crazy about a September wedding, but we'll be living together starting this summer so that might change I fell in love with a Mansion in CT but it's 2 hours away and that's pretty far. Any ideas on places? Again, we want something that looks classy and if possible, not too dated but also on a budget. After looking at some prices around I feel like we're hallucinating and that's impossible. We would be fine with a Sunday afternoon wedding, btw...

Re: Help choosing a Venue
I can't help with naming venues(at least not yet ...) but can help with when talking to RH's ask them what the price difference between the months you want are. I do know that September is one of the most expensive months as well as October. When we we're pricing around for summer months July & August we're the least & May & September we're so badly priced. How far out on LI are you willing to travel? Mostly all RH's are negotiable in price!

Hi! Welcome and congratulations on your engagement!
Westchester:
Not sure if it's opened yet but try Windows on the Hudson. How many people do you plan on having? Harvest on the Hudson (restaurant) is beautiful. Also try Beckwithe Point, Surf Club, Greetree Country Club and VIP Country Club.
Long Island: Crest Hollow, Swan Club, Jericho Terrace (no gardens but it's beautiful there), Fox Hollow.

Re: Help choosing a Venue
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. Please keep them coming! We want 85-100 guests. The total wedding budget is $10K, so we were estimating that our cost per plate shouldn't be higher than maybe $65 since once you add taxes, gratuity and all the other extras that come with a wedding the price tag gets higher and higher....

Re: Help choosing a Venue
Try Sans Souci- their minimum is 50, they are on the water and have a garden, and I think our PPH is about $78 (incl. tax and grat) for June afternoon in 2011.

Thanks!! That's lots of places to consider! We're planning on 85-100, we could go up to 200 if I start inviting my incredibly large extended family! But we're trying to keep it manageable. Any idea on price-range for these venues?

Re: Help choosing a Venue
PS on how far into Long Island? I don't mind! My FH said he rather stay closer to the mainland... But if we can find the dream place at a reasonable price deep in Long Island I think we would do it.

Unfortunately, I don't have price ranges but if you do a search on the venues (on here) you should be able to find previous posts.

Re: Help choosing a Venue
You might be able to get a deal like that for a Saturday day wedding in the upstairs at Chateau La Mer. FM me if you have any questions!
