Re: HELP!!! dress dilema

I feel your pain... I was drawn to a couple champagne desses myself. I ended up with one in ivory.... It's true that some people will wonder why you're not in white... what I found out after getting my dress is that some will think that about ivory too...

please yourself first, and everyone else second... just don't make a choice you'll regret becuase it provokes endless nagging from your mom!!!!

I also love it and think a light pink BM dress would be nice.

I saw that dress there. It is amazing. I loved it, but it doesn't come in white. It's a hard to decide. If you really love the dress. I wonder if you could find the dress somewhere else that could get it in white or a similar style comes in white.

I had a similar problem, mine came in ivory or red. My mom at first was hesitant but she luckily loved the dress. I think you need to do what it best for you. If you do not mind it in champagne, then go for it!!!!

Re: HELP!!! dress dilema

go with your gut. if that's the color you like and the one you'll feel best in, then go with it. white is a tradition and one that's broken a lot these days, besides the only reason people started wearing white in the first place is because some queen wore it to her wedding and everyone wanted to be like here - something like that anyways. but as i said, wear what you like.

Thats interesting! i didnt know that. i wish wedding dresses were black. black is more slimming. white/white made me look so WIDE!!!

WOW...thats so funny...My girlfriend is just bought the same dress last weekend and she had the exact same dilemea...she decided to get it in all white. She loved the dress and she pleased her mom by not getting it in champagne. A good compromise...but then again, it's your wedding...do as you wish!

Re: HELP!!! dress dilema

i was also a bride that had a fight w/ my mom over not wearing a white wedding gown. i was dead set on ivory - and actually just went and bought the dress w/o her. when she saw it she couldnt believe how gorgeous it was.

i say do what you like. its your wedding. and dont worry about matching your BM dresses - i can think of 100 colors that would go lovely w/ champange.

but if you think your mom is going to aggrevate you to no end about this - i would give in. there were somethings i was dead set on and other things i knew would dissapoint her too much. i never oncedebated the color of my wedding gown - i knew what i wanted. if you are swayed by what your moms feelings on this than maybe its something you may want to compromise.

hth - best of luck

That is a beautiful dress IN THAT COLOR!!! I tried it on and for a while I was really thinking about it. The only thing was that *I* wanted to wear white and I saw that dress in all white and to be honest I think it lost it's 'look'... The one you tried on is ivory with champagne accents and sash (same one I tried on). The champagne accents on the skirt make it pop - soooo pretty. In the white, EVERYTHING is white and it looks like any other white pickup dress - pretty, but it doesn't pop which I thought was the dress' original appeal. JMO, but just go with your gut. Everyone has an opinion but the ONLY one that matters is yours! I mean, I bought a silk white dress and a friend of mine commented about how I didn't buy a 'white' dress -it's more 'ivory' and I was like, WHAT? Dude, it's white, just not that stark white :) Go with your gut and be happy!

It is GORGEOUS!

I am wearing ivory and champagne. My MOH is wearing light pink. The champagne is sooo neutral she really could have worn almost anything!

And the person who said an October bride would look great in Champagne is sooo right. Think of how gorgeous and rich the color will look in the early evening with the leaves starting to change and the sky blazing. Or later with the crystals really popping out to glitter against the dress in the candlelight. And with all of the amazing fall colors... your girls can wear deep autumn red, rich burnished copper, a dark spun gold ... just about ANYTHING and it will look lovely.

Good luck!

What's wrong with champagne? Is your mom afraid that the guests might think you're not a virgin or something? I think champagne is one of those lovely colors that goes with a lot of things--what colors did you have in mind for your bridesmaids? I'd choose softer colors--that doesn't mean they can't be dark, but a slate blue instead of a Tiffany blue, if you see what I mean. Rose instead of bubblegum pink. Sage green instead of mint. Actually, I think sage green would look great with that gown! I remember seeing it in magazines and thinking it was lovely. Edit--now that I see your wedding is in the fall, it's even better. Champagne would look wonderful with fall colors if that's what you want. Golds, copper, deep red, teal blue, dark green--they would all look great. You could even get the bridesmaids dresses in a deeper color of champagne and it would look amazing.

Remember, it's your gown, you should get what you want. If, though, what you want is NOT to hear your mom complaining, then get ivory. Stark white doesn't look good on everyone, it's why I'm getting an ivory gown. I really like the way that gowns come in a lot of shades now.
