There is a woman in my office that THRIVES on gossip and is super nosy. She’s requested me on facebook like a year ago and I’ve left her in friendship limbo.
After I got engaged, another coworker saw my ring on FB (I want to defriend her at that) and this woman whined “I couldn’t see because I’m not your facebook friend!” I told her I didn’t know she had friended me and I’m not on it a lot but I’ll check it later. I never did!
Anyway, my profile pic is from our engagement shoot and she just wrote me an email
“You’re profile pic on FB is sooooo pretty – I want to see more – be my friend….please??? “
W T H!!! Take a hint much??? Also, FH is in the same office (and extremely private) so I don’t want this nosy nelly knowing what we do in our off time.
How do I tell her I don’t want to be your friend in real life or cyber!!!???
HELPPP! I don't want to run into her without an answer

Can you put her on a limited profile? Then you can choose what you share. Otherwise I would just be honest and say you're really sorry but you don't feel comfortable adding people from work. I feel like it's legitimate that people don't want to do that.

can you make her only see a 'limited profile' ie, your profile pics, but not your wall, and maybe just like one album?
This way you are being polite by friending her, but not disclosing all of your private info?

Ughhhhhhhhh I hate awkward stuff like that. I would just tell her that you like to keep your personal and work life separate. Take a hint.

Agree with bethie, you can accept her and have her only view somethings.. that's a great feature i found out about not to long ago... U can hide your wall, post pics from certain ppl that you sometimes are obligated to accept.

The only issue with limited profile, is that people can sometimes tell they are limited if you're really a facebook addict (like me!) and this persons sounds like they would have the balls to ask if she were on a limited profile....which would create another awkward situation...

I would probably defriend the other co-worker and tell both of them that you don't want to mix work and your personal life - no hard feelings.

The thing is her friend (she left the company but they still stay in touch) probably tells her stuff so I would have to limit both which causes a whole chain of limiting that is stupid and annoying.

AGHHHH!
I haven't responded to the email and I am avoiding her for now.
If she brings it up, I'm just going to say 'you are annoying as frack, leave me alone!!!' sound good?

Ok I get that at my job here too. Soooo there is 2 approaches you can take!
In my old job I would accept their request and totally block them (but then they ask why they are blocked so not really a goof approach)
OR
I have been in this job for 3 years and since I came in I told everyone I don't accept co workers on my fb. That is my rule and I don't change it for anyone.

can you tell her that you're only friends with people outside of work? If she ask how come you're friends with the other co-workers tell her you're friends with them outside of work.

so it ended with me walking in a stall to pee and her saying 'okay.....' like I was the weirdest person ever
