go into Insert and then Symbol and then scroll down a little bit (and insert it where you want!)

(eta: this is in microsoft word if that's the program you're using)

Are you using Microsoft Word? If so, you have to insert it as a symbol. Go to Insert, select Symbol on the pull down menu - and this should pull up a window with a bunch of funny symbols. The accented e should be there, just select it, click insert and it will add the accented e to your document. You can also copy and past it once ou've placed it in the document so you don't have to keep going to Insert, etc. Hope that helped!
