HELP: I keep having the same nightmare

So, this past May friends of our used our DJ at their wedding. They were horrible! The dance floor was not packed at all and the music selection was terrible for the crowd (they played rab and hip hop for a crowd of almost all people over 50). FH and I were so worried that we actually called the Dj company the next day to voice our concerns. They re assured us that the reason it was so bad was that the couple made them keep stopping the music for random speaches, guest singing, slideshows, etc.
Logn story short, we ended up being completely reassured and stayed with them.

Well....months later I've been having the SAME wedding nightmare over and over almost every night for the past few months. The reception is a bust because the DJ wont play songs we request, no one is on the dance floor, and everyone ends up leaving hours early. I dont know what to do....im sure its going to be okay, but the DJ makes the party... I'm just so scared of it being bad. We cant back out now. We paid a $500 deposit which is non refundable and we cant afford to loose the money. I dont really want to switch DJs, but the more I have this nightmare, the more I'm convinced that my wedding is going to be horrible!

I wouldn't worry b/c you've voiced your concern to them. However, I would seriously recommend telling them again, and possibly even giving them DO NOT PLAY genre's a few days before your wedding so that it's fresh in your mind.

awwww It's such an awful feeling to have a recurring dream like that. Everything will most definitely be fine, especially since you voiced your concerns- you did the right thing!! But man the dreams sure can mess with your head don't they? Recurring dreams are the worst!!!

DId you talk to your friend about the DJ?

If there reasoning was that they kept getting interrupted and waht not... are you planning on having speeches and dances etc.??

I agree with the above that if you dont want certain genre's or songs, definitely let them knwo about it again before your wedding... also, is your dj/mc going to be the same one you saw at your friends wedding?

I would make sure that you get yourself comfortable with everything.... I personally could not take anxiety over a major vendor....

Hope i dont upset you more... maybe talk to some people who have had similar feelings about vendors (try bhb or '06), they might be of more help.............

I think your DJ will be fine at your wedding.....just make sure you give them a SPECIFIC LIST of the exact songs you want.....and make it very clear what you DON'T WANT.

If this continues to bother you so much, I recommend getting someone else. Just cut your losses and get a new person......$500 is not much in comparison to the rest of the wedding....and if you are worrying about it and it is ruining the experience, its NOT worth it.

Just be sure to give them a list of what you do/don't want, and all will be FINE.
