Help, I'm so confused what dress to buy

its glamorous , sexy and classy at the same time-- deff #1 IMHO

But do you think it has a victorian feel? When it's ivory, all the details are in ivory. Do you think it could have a victorian feel?

Do you all go through this looking for a dress. Like I cried and all for the first dress, but I later I thought, OMG it's not lace, so it's not victorian and that's when I went back to the drawing board and tried on some more and fell in love with 2 more (no tears though). Has anyone experienced this, were the dress that brought them tears was a little different then the style they were looking for? I'm going tomorrow to try all 4 dresses on again

Like the previous poster said, if there is a dress that strikes you during the search process that differs from what you originally envisioned, it's OK. Sometimes discovery is part of the process.

If you still want to stick with the old-time, romantic feel, I suggest #3 (I voted for this same dress in the other thread). The fact it has lace all over the dress creates that feel, although the vertical pleats at the hem are modern.

IMHO, both #1 and #2 have a more modern feel. The mermaid shape of #2 is more reminiscent of 1940s-1950s Hollywood, actually.

As said above, don't feel hidebound by what you thought you wanted. If you come across the dress you feel strongly about, consider it.

this is the one I'm leaning towards because it has all the features I am looking for. But I'm not sure if I'm shutting out the other choices just because they are satin and not lace. What do you think?

Yes that was me in the other thread. My problem is I love so many dresses, but I think in this thread #1 and #3 are my favorite and I am hoping that tomorrow trying them all on again, I will know. I want that moment, when you put it on a the tears just form. I had that with #1, but every time I look at photos of #3 I get chills. But this is all a fun experience. I am excited about trying on my favorite dresses tomorrow. And your right about #2, that it has that 1940-50's theme, I almost feel that maybe #1 has that feel too, but not sure if it will still have that feel in ivory. I am really liking that... thank you. Either way, I like that classic look

I dont think I cried really when I tried dresses on. Dont know why but maybe because I was alittle cranky one day (hadnt eaten and was so sick of trying on size 10 dresses and tripping all over them! HAHA) Anyway, how many stores did you go to? I say try them all on again and sleep on it alittle more if you want! I wasnt sure if I wanted my dress and brought so many people to come look at it! I slept on it a weak and then ordered it and panicked when I ordered it because I wasnt sure if I looked enough! HAHA! But I took pictures of me in it and I look at them often and am happy with my choice!

Ok I had to edit this...I LOVE #3! That is what I voted for the other day! Please get #3 it is so elegant and different! #2 does not to it for me, to plain, to prom dress looking. #3, #3, #3....LOVE IT!

Thank you once again for your help. It was really bothering me that I didn't cry for the other two dresses, when I love all of them. I honestly wish I could wear them all, because we all have our different moods, like sometimes I want that old fashion victorian feel and then sometimes I want that classic hollywood look with the gloves and all. It's so hard, especially since they all look so good on.
Is that your dress in your photo, I love it if it is and you seem very happy in it. I think that is important, to feel happy in it, comfortable, that's why I'm not too sure of #2 from this post since it's a true mermaid and I wouldn't be able to dance like I'd like too -LOL. Thank you again for all your help, I can't wait to go tomorrow. I'm going with FH's mom, she's only seen 4 dresses, so well have fun. This is my third time back to Demetrios at Macy's, LOL.

agree! However, if #1 made you cry then I would go for that--I think the Ivory will make it look more antique-victorian-ish.....you can't lose, both are beautiful!!

#1 is GORGEOUS and if you have the body to rock it I say go for it!! I do love the lace one as well. IMO you can't go wrong with either.

I love Demetrios dresses, they are all gorgeous. Definitely go for what you think looks best on you and feels like the one (which sounds like it was dress #1 for you). I heard on the bridal shows and read in the magazines that you should definitely try on dresses that you usually wouldn't consider, because you never know!!! So I kept that in mind when trying on dresses.

I would say try not to get so hung up on going for a victorian type dress. If you love how the dress looked on you, and in the white satin, then just go for it. Cause you might not like it so much in the ivory once it comes in. So go with what looks and feels right!
