HELP!! ladies w/ toshiba laptops.

hey ladies... Im about to cry. Im a student and finals are here and now is NOT the time for my laptop to start acting up!!!!!!

Its a Toshiba, and it always overheats!! In the middle of my work it will shut down!!! do any of you have these problems w/toshiba? If so, what can you do to stop it from overheating?

Take out the battery and keep it plugged in.

We had to buy Toshiba's at my school as well. I was *fortunate* enough to have mine stolen - but most of my other classmates had 'accidents' before the warrenty was up.

I have the similiar problem with my laptop. I brought a cooling fan to put under it. I think i got it at Office Max or Staples.

I have a toshiba and it always freezes on me - sometimes while shutting down ... and I have to hold down the power key and restart it, and then it asks me if I want to start it in safe mode because it didn't shut down properly ... it's annoying. Is this caused by overheating?? It does get warm - should I get a cooling fan? will that help?

I bought the cooling fan and it did literally nothing!! maybe it was just in my case but it still overheated!

DH has a Toshiba and this was always happening to him. He took one of those air cans that blows dirt out of your computer and blew air into all the vents of the computer. It seemed to work because it doesn't happen anymore. He said it was so filthy that was probably the reason why it kept turning off. Try that and see if it helps.

ok I will try that... Thanks! I really hope that solves the problem cause I am really about to have a breakdown... I have like 3,000 papers due and I cant get any work done b/c this laptop keeps shutting down on me!!! Today it happened about 8 times!!!

im sorry its acting up at a time like this...I know DH was ready to throw it out the window so I know you must be frustrated...Good luck and I hope it works!!!

make sure u save your documents very often!!! I had that issue. I used the dust remover and it got a lot of gunk out of there and was better.

Hey I have a toshiba and this used to happen to me allll the time! But I took it to a laptop/computer repair place and they fixed it for me for only $40 and it has never overheated again! HTH!

They said they had to do a major cleaning on it! So maybe the dust blowing thing will do the trick!

i went thru 2 toshiba laptops recently.they s*ckk! they both overheatted..i had the motherboard replaced..it was a big mess...

if i were u, i would purchase a lenovo (ibm) thinkpad. they arent fancy looking or anything..but i havent had a complaint. my laptop is on 24/7 and i havent had a problem yet. fh fixes computers and he swears by them.
