Balloons! I've never seen this done and I love balloons as props in e-pics. Never thought of them for wedding photos though!

I say both! I love the releasing of the balloons at the church. The only thing is I wouldn't have the balloons outside the church when guests first arrive... that's a little too sweet sixteen-y for me. I don't know if that's even logistically possible, but that's the way I see it in my head. If this makes any sense. lol!

I love the look of the balloons in the pictures, as long as you DONT RELEASE them.... its sooo bad for the environment. you wouldnt want to know that on your wedding die you added to the polution in the environment

This. What goes up must come down. It's basically littering and polluting.

Sorry NO BALLOONS! Even though they look really pretty, it's just not good for the animals in our environment. Considering that we live on an island, the balloons can easily make it to the ocean/bay where animals can eat them.

ETA: even though someone said they are biodegradable, how long does it take to break down. Paper and orange peels are biodegradable as well, but if someone throws them in the street, they don't disappear in a day. I'm sure that latex, or whatever balloons are made of take A LOT longer than paper or other organic materials to break down.

I'm really surprised that in this day and age that balloon releasing is not illegal and not considered to be pollution.

Honestly, I think you should do what YOU feel is the best option for your wedding. You dont want to look back on your pics and say 'man, I wish I would have done this or that'.

On another note...totally did not know about the ballloons and ocean thing.....

Biodegradable doesn't actually stop birds and other animals from eating them and dying.

There are enough bad people in the world hurting animals why would we want to add to that

Yeah as pretty as the balloon idea could be, I personally do not believe they belong at weddings. It is very sweet 16ish, but that is your call.

However, an even bigger issue which others have already mentioned is for animals and the environment. Releasing one or two, I suppose would be okay, but releasing a whole bunch is no different than littering. My vote is for bubbles.

I really like balloons... have always love balloons... and as soon as my church told me you cant have ANYTHING that hits the floor, Ballons came to my mind...

Why don't you take pics with the balloons, then pop them all at once...'MAZEL TOV!' and throw them in teh garbage where they can biodegrade safely out of the mouths of innocent fish
