Help me find a dress!!

Hello everyone,

I went to Davids Bridal two weeks ago and found two dresses that I really liked. One was modeled after a Maggie Soterro dress and there was another (style # 7295E) that I loved. Although I like the dress I was wondering if the original would be even better. The problem is I haven't the slightest idea what designer this dress is modeled after.
I'm having trouble attaching the photo, and the photo is not a great picture of the dress. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Help me find a dress!!

It looks similar to the Christos gowns I've seen in the Bride mag, no?

Re: Help me find a dress!!

It's a little different. It has an embroidered border at the bottom of the dress and at the bust-line as well. It is A-line and has buttons going doing the back of the dress. What I like about the dress is that there is embroidering on it ( I hate stones, beads, etc). It's simple but quite elegant.

Re: Help me find a dress!!

OK, I am confused, does Davids imitate ALL the dresses they make to be exact copies? I thought you were looking for a designer that had a similar style, but not the same exact dress.... Sorry, I misunderstood.... If David's copies all the dresses, they what designer style 5868 be? That's the one I like, except for the huge train. Thankx

Re: Help me find a dress!!

I'm not sure if they copy all of their dresses. I just assumed they did because of the low prices. I may have made an incorect assumption. As for the dress I was talking about, I'm looing for a dress a lot like it or even better.

Re: Help me find a dress!!

Hello! You can go to www.Bridesave.com and they allow you to punch in the Davids Bridal style # and bring up all the similar ones, that may give you a designer name! Let me know how you make out, good luck.

Re: Help me find a dress!!

Just following up: I went to bridesave and punched my dresses in (I tried 4 at David's bridal and my mom is coming this weekend to help me pick one, at Davids). None of the styles of BrideSave matched exactly to what was Davids dress, and in fact some were really mismatched So I intend to order the dress at davids and alter it elsewhere, perhaps Karin Yng..... from Astoria, someone recommended her on this site a while ago. How much does she charge, does anyone know?

Thanks all
Alina

Re: Help me find a dress!!

David's are not exact copies at all. They use very different material than the orginal dress. I am NOT saying it is better or worse for anyone. Just that there is a big difference between some of the orginal designer gowns and the ones at David's. Again, that does not mean the David's are 'bad' but if you want to see the difference go to a few other shops.

Re: Help me find a dress!!

Michelle31:
I may try to stop by a few shops that saturday, the ones near David Bridal in Brooklyn. I guess I have a problem justifying spending over $1,000 on a dress that I will only wear once ==> hence my first trip was made to Davids, before going elsewhere.
I liked the dresses on their website and am glad that I only liked 4 gowns in the whole store, b/c otherwise it would be hard to pick one. But I am not a big designer lover to begin with (I wouldn't buy a Fendi bag just because its Fendi), so perhaps thats another reason for me to shop there. Is there anything wrong w/davids besides lack of service and poor alterations? Thanx
Alina

Re: Help me find a dress!!

kittyke,

I went to bridessave and punched in the style number but the dress did not look a lot like the dress I saw at Davids Bridal. I'll keep looking at other stores, but if I don't like a dress more than the one I saw at Davids Bridal then I'll stick with that one.
