I have the designer's picture of the dress and then one with me in it.
I cant figure out what could be under the dress (hoop, crinoline- what kind?) to make the 'billows' of fabric wider and more ball gown like
[Am I making any sense at all?]
What are your guesses?

yea i'd say a hoop ... crinolin wouldn't give it that much of a 'stand up' effect

I really don't know, but I'll say a hoop skirt. Just wanted to say how that's a beautiful dress!!! Hope you find out whatever it is, good luck! And keep us posted on the final conclusion!

Yeah, that's a hoop. I had a 3 ring hoop slip, plus the dress already had a lot of crinoline.

Thanks for the help ladies....it totally makes sense that its a hoop since it would spread the bottom out more- therefore spreading the fabric by the hips too!
