Help me pick a date-

Help me pick a date-

Ok. Here is my dilema. I orginally started dating FH 12-19-98 and want to be married 12-19-08, ten years later. But, I always wanted a Saturday wedding because I feel more people will come. What do you think? Should I just do it on a Friday because I am in love with the date? Or do it a week earlier, 12-13-08 because I want a Saturday? HELPPPPPP I just want to make sure people will come. Does it really differ from a Friday to a Saturday?

Congrats!! Not only is Friday the day you've been dreaming about since you started dating FH, but fridays are also much cheaper! I was first contemplating between friday and saturday, thinking the same things as you. I also didnt want people worrying about friday traffic and taking off from work. But Fridays are becoming just as popular as saturdays. People begin to look foward to fridays because its the end of the week and they can go out and have a good time and celebrate. We booked Chateau La Mer and their prices on friday were 15 less than the saturday. Once you decide which date you want, i would go look at places. If you book before the end of the year, you lock in this years prices!!! Plus its always exiting going to look at places!! Welcome to these boards.. they are so helpful!!!

Thank you very much. You are absolutely correct. Its amazing how I don't want to discuss this with my family, except FH. So your advice is what I am taking. THANKS!!!

I know exactly what you mean. When i first started planning, my mother was opposed to a friday as well.. and actually opposed to me looking at places so early on. Her mind quickly changed when we went to go look at Chateau la Mer and she fell in love with it too. The way i see it is that if your guests really want to be there, having it on a friday night won't keep them away.

i agree. go with the date you've been dreaming of. it's a perfect date. (it also happens to be my birthday!)

i think what i'm learning through this wedding planning is you have to do what you and FH want and try to not listen to other people. it's hard though!

totally agree.. its sooo hard trying to block out what other people say. I'm a Libra and i take everything to heart.. and i try to please Everyone.. and i know that i should only be worrying about pleasing myself and FH but its so hard.. i want everyone to have a good time. why do some ppl have to make it difficult though!

hi--seems like you made your choice. just wanted to say that pick the date that YOU and FH want! people will make an effort to come to your wedding - no matter what day it is--if they are truly your friends & family. we got a lot of slack for picking a sunday daytime wedding for our day---but for financial reasons we selected it. plus it will be 5 yrs. and 10 days to the day we met. i could care less if someone is p*ssed cause they have to get up a little early on a sunday!!!

Friday are becoming a very popular wedding day.. people that are improtant to you and FH will make it their businees to show up.

people will still come if its on a friday nite.

i think its a beautiful idea to pick your 10 year anniversary!

I agree...that is so nice to get married on your 10 year anniversary. If you want that date go for it...people will come! One of the reasons, other than having to save $$$$$$...that we are getting married in 08 was because of the date we wanted. Even if I had the $$$$ to get married in 07, I know that my date is booked. So don't compromise...think of what you guys want, and do that!

I sincerely appreciate all of you! THANKS YOU ALL FOR YOUR ADVICE. As for doing and listening to what the family says, it is so hard not to. But you are right. I will do what I want. FRIDAY it is. THANKS AGAIN!

I am getting married on a friday and a lot of people told me that they were happy that I did that so they have the whole weekend to relax after it!! I say go for it!!! It's a special date for you guys!!!!

We chose a Friday night also since it was a little cheaper. I've actually been to a ton of Friday night weddings... believe me.. it is a very common night for a wedding and everyone who plans to be at your wedding will be there! Good Luck looking at halls!
